Deferrments meant nothing in that war starting in about 1967. Even those who fought there were PO’d at the government for not trying to win., for regularly sacrificing troops only to withdraw from the area won, and for playing politics continually with the war.
So as much as I despise almost everything else about McCain, I think the fact that he did that make him kind of a hero. We have war hero’s with medals and none of them sat captured in a prison camp. It sucked but its not what gets you a medal. The mission of war is to kill the enemy. We give medals out to the guys who kill the most enemy.
John McCain killed more military aircraft than he did the enemy.
McCain runs around calling everyone names anytime he feels like it and they are supposed to stay quiet? He’s the crazy Whacko bird. IMO the guy has senile dementia and should be removed from the senate.
