Probably because she was 17. I needed my parent’s signature to join the Army Delayed Entry Program at 17 but just my own to go active duty a year later.

I needed my parents signature to join the Army Delayed Entry Program at 17 but just my own to go active duty a year later. Same with me; enlisted in the Navy at 17 right out of high school, and needed the parental signature. Turned 18 in the last few weeks of boot camp.
