I am dark skinned, part black.
The reason why I am wound up is because of issues I had with the police. The first issue was when I saw a police officer verbally abuse my 82 year old mother in law who is white. The second was when it was my birthday, and I had a lot to drink. My husband was designated driver, and had one beer. It was midnight, driving home . My husband was going 10 mph over the speed limit. We deserved a ticket. However, when the cop pulled us over he was training a new recruit, so he wanted to show his toughness. He smelled alcohol, and almost had an orgasm. He then shouted at my husband to step out of the car, did a breathlyzer and roadside test.My husband passed, which pissed him off more. Shouting like a drill sargeant at my husband. It was terrifying, the cop was escalating and I thought he was going to hit my husband. I opened the car door, and the recruit came running, hand on holster. I could tell even the recruit thought the behavior excessive, because he told me- “ma’am, please get back in the car”very nicely. When the cop did not get his DUI bust like he so wanted, he then flashed his light into our car looking for an open liquor container. When he did not find it, he let us go without a ticket. For 15 min my husband was verbally abused during this traffic stop. He was so so stupid that he never came to the realization that I was the drinker.
We were shaking when we drove away. There was no reason for the behavior. He did not act professional, and we were no threat to him . He wanted to show off in front of the recruit, and was mad that he did not get his bust. I think the reason why we did not get a ticket was because we would get his name, and describe his behavior in court.
We are politically connected. A politician friend called the head of State Patrol who agreed that the behavior was uncalled for. My husband declined to file a formal complaint because he has a very nice sportscar, and that would make him a moving target to the State Patrol.
I was in Seattle. some black kidswere causing trouble, harrassing the tourists. I saw a couple of bike cops, and ran to them for assistance. They ignored my complaint, and rode away in the opposite direction. I had no cell phone on me at the time, so I could not call 911
I have also seen cops yell at the public for no apparent reason. One time, this really sticks into my head- I saw a cop yell at a person who was helping someone who fell and hurt themselves. The cop was not going to assist, but damn if he was going to let anyone else assist.I also have friends who were mistreated.
This is a conservative site. Conservatism does not mean that we have to accept poor police behavior. That is a form of facism. If you think your dear state of Texas loves the police, and trusts police authority- why did they protest Jade Helm, and why did your governor have the National Guard observe them?
Conservatism means freedom, not facism.
Your race says it all. That is why you blindly support any black. You probably supported Treyvon and Michael Brown too. Both got what they deserved.
Conservatism means self accountability and self responsibility. Stop blaming everyone else for your own actions. I’m sorry you had a few bad experiences, but don’t paint all cops as bad. That behavior is no different than a cop painting all blacks as bad because blacks make up a majority of all crime stats.
Bad cops are out there and you can get them investigated, fired, or jailed. But in this case, he did not violate the law. She did. She is not a good example of a martyr for your cause. You still have to follow the law even if you dislike it. Color doesn’t give you a pass on that.
