Windflier, the article was about dividing CA into “Six Californias.” I am in, I don’t know what it was called, should be called El Mierdo, LA County, lol, and we are moving to what would be called South California, which incorporates OC and SD so it is the conservative corner. As in, go sit in that corner and shaddup. :)
That is why I said that.
I looooove South Carolina though, visit it all the time because my elderly parents were moved there.

Eeek! Guess I should'a read the article, huh?
LOL
Yes.
If “yes” then you should know that even that
silly 6 state proposed split would produce
more than one conservative. Also, if the state
were split into 6 states then which ever of
the states retains the name “California” is
going to have no more than 2 senators, not 12.
If California splits into 6 states, the U.S. Senate would have 110 Senators (49 states + 1 California + 5 new states X 2).
Right now, the geographic area of California contributes 2 liberal senators to the 100. Or 2%.
In the newly proposed configuration, the geographic area that now represents California would contribute 12 senators to the 110. Or approx 11%.
Even if only half of those 12 were liberal, California’s current geographic area would increase the liberal contribution of senators from 2% to 5.5%.
My concern is for the United States. If I should happen to end up in a new state that elects two conservative senators, that’s great for my state. But my country would not be better off.
That was my point.
2% to 5.5%?
Please tell me in what brand of math do we find that
increasing the total on BOTH sides by the same amount
changes the percentage for one side?
