Robert Cray’s Smoking Gun from 1986

Getting closer to present, but Robert Cray's black and gets a pass. Hell, rappers today can talk about beating their "ho's" all day, and nobody cares.

Can you think of any WHITE American male performer singing a song about doing violence against a woman over her cheating on him, from the last 10-15 years?

No, the narrator of Cray’s song was punished for his crime, as was Joe (to a lesser extent; he’s free, but on the run). The narrator of Underwood’s garbage is celebrated AND is not even married to the guy.

People tried to pull that crap to excuse misogynist gangsta rap. “Marty Robbins sang about killing his woman over infidelity in a cowboy song!” Yeah, and it was narrated from a jail cell while he waited to be hanged at dawn.
