Allahpundit of the site, Hotair sums up the efficacy of this idea perfectly: "So, so dumb, but that’s our donor class for you."
The New York Times details the "logic" of why boycotting the debate by major candidates is a good idea:
The thinking, according to a Republican involved in the conversations, was that the lesser-funded prospects who have been eclipsed by Mr. Trump would follow suit, and the TV networks airing the debates would be forced to bar Mr. Trump in order to have a full complement of candidates.
Allah blows that nonsense out of the water:
Bush, Walker, and Rubio can each argue, somewhat credibly, that having Trump in the race is good for them. For Jeb, he’s a big-name foil, a guy whom Bush can use to underscore his own comparative moderation and electability. There may be nothing worse to many “somewhat conservative” voters than nominating a Bush … unless the alternative is nominating Donald Trump. For Walker, what could be sweeter than having Trump around throwing roundhouses at Bush for being a RINO and a loser? He’s making the same bet that Ted Cruz is, that Trumpmania will cool once Republican voters start to get serious about picking a candidate. And Walker’s well positioned to pick up Trump voters (and “anyone but Jeb” voters) thanks to his newfound hawkishness about the border.

This kills any credibility of the GOP and emasculates FNC.
GOP dumped CNN and MSNBC over bias and now they are doing it to their own by moving the goalposts.
If Bush, Rubio, and Walker skip this it will destroy their campaigns.
Please. Have Huck, Jindal, Perry, Graham, Rubio, Pataki, Kasich, all stay home. Then the debate would focus heavily on real issues.
Ha! Good luck with keeping any of those hacks off the stage. With Trump sucking all the air out of the room the debates are the only time they get any notice. :-)
Reince and spit is our weasel future if the GOPe continues on its current trajectory.
PERFECT!
That is MSM speak....Trumpmania is all about the Politically Correct RINO's - Donald Trump hasn't one iota of that horrid killer disease. However, the GOP elite have PC in spades and they own Jeb....no one owns Donald Trump....and that fact is resounding loud and clear with people on both sides who find the truth over rhetoric, extremely refreshing.
Well maybe the GOP e should go third party
Cruz just confronted McConnell with truth on floor of Senate. Go team!
No matter what they think, indeed. And there is the issue. The liberal is under the impression that their individual opinion must change facts
Anyway, they don’t ‘think’ they ‘feel’
They will be the third party in the not-too-distant future.

Trump is boycotting the Voters First Republican Presidential Forum on Monday, Aug. 3.
Interesting decision.
The great thing about The Donald is that he needs “No Stink’n Donors”:-) What he needs is Votes and he seems to be gathering them up at a great pace!
Or that univision reporter got yesterday:-)
He makes the assumption that anyone besides Bush will be funded past Florida.
They won't.
Only Bush and Trump will have a penny past Florida.
I simply refer to my tagline. Trump is for real. He isn’t a politician, he’s a fighter, and he’s fighting on our side. I can get behind him, Carson, Cruz, Fiorina and Walker in that order. I would love to see a Trump/Cruz or Trump /Carson ticket. I’ll allow Cruz and Walker in as pols only due to their record and voices on the side of whats good for this nation.
I think its time for Trump to start ignoring the also-rans in the GOPe field start tearing into Hillary relentlessly with both barrels. Force her to play the game his way. The drive-by’s won’t have any choice but to cover it. Pass the popcorn...
” And Walkers well positioned to pick up Trump voters (and anyone but Jeb voters) thanks to his newfound hawkishness about the border.”
LMAO
once he hits a tipping point where it is the non-base he is attracting, then the other primary candidates become irrelevant to the discussion.
