Charles G. Finney (1792-1875) has a pretty good description of TODAY'S PROBLEMS :

For far too many people, the television has replaced the pulpit. Even if they attend church, what is an hour or two per week spent in church against the twenty or thirty hours spent watching TV?

Even at that, most “pastors” are content to regurgitate what they heard on TV rather than teach the bible.

Yes, we are a mission field, but NOT open to the Lord. When everything is God d***! and Jesus Ch****! out of people’s mouths these days, there is no respect towards even the notion of God. At school the very thought of a god has been destroyed, either by accusations of Him being a narcissistic, evil being, or that it is all a fairy tale. Even many who claim to be Christians know nothing of God’s true attributes, cannot pick them out of a multiple question/answer test because they do not “know” Him in any way other than what they hear second hand. We have dropped from being a Christian nation to being the most immoral and ungodly one on the face of the earth.

There used to be quite a bit of social stigma attached to getting a divorce or having a child out of wedlock

Back when people had to work in order to eat, few would want to exert all that effort for someone else's kid (other than family / clan, etc.)

Now thanks to EBT, we've all been cuckolded into raising the children of others. So guess what - nobody wants to work!

Let me rephrase my post. While Ted Cruz did not call the majority leader directly a liar, he made it clear that he is a liar because he said there was no deal, when in fact there was a deal

The Judeo-Christian underpinnings of our society have been been largely kicked out from under the structure, and we are witnessing the beginning of the collapse. A largely pagan/secular society cannot hope to hold government accountable for corruption, because such people have no set definition of right and wrong. Thus, our form of government becomes unsustainable, collapses, and then some form of despotism follows.

This has been known for a hundred years. I had an entire class on it when I was a junior in college (not a hundred years ago!).

btw, working but married mothers mimic a lot of the characteristics of single mothers in their child rearing choices.

Single motherhood should be a badge of disgrace but our nation almost uniformly applauds it.
