Donald Trump's Attorney Defends Him Against Ex-Wife's Rape Allegation “You can’t rape your spouse"

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may have raped his ex-wife Ivana Trump, according to a 1993 biography of the real estate mogul uncovered by The Daily Beast. Trump's attorney on Monday denied the allegation, claiming “you cannot rape your spouse.”

“You’re talking about the front-runner for the GOP, presidential candidate, as well as private individual, who never raped anybody," Michael Cohen, the Trump Organization’s special counsel, told The Daily Beast. "And, of course, understand that by the very definition, you can’t rape your spouse.”

The biography, Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump, by Harry Hurt III, details a 1989 incident in which Trump reportedly confronted his then-wife Ivana, pulling out clumps of her hair and sexually assaulting her. She characterized the incident as rape during the couple’s divorce proceedings in the early 1990s and said she felt “violated,” according to legal documents cited by The Daily Beast....

...Trump, a real estate mogul, has made numerous offensive comments about rape, most notably when he kicked off his presidential campaign last month and alleged that undocumented Mexican immigrants are “rapists.”

The lawyers response will become the story. Take your pick between his over the top threats and his distinctly foolish statement that its not possible to rape your wife.

I expected this—If you can’t get something—make it up. But Trump will hit back—and he has a team of lawyers that will turn the tables on this account. Do not expect to see union dudes with “Rapist Turmp” Signs soon.

Wrong on boyo.

Trump attacked Walker after Walker's sugar daddy called Trump dumdum.
Trump has not attacked Cruz. Trump has attacked Jeb viciously as well as Perry.

It is you who have no clue.

Every high-money contested divorce involves rape and assault allegations - we’re talking millions of dollars at stake here. Find me a police report on it, or a history of it with other women.

" ... that is a city and Judge deal weighing the highest and best use of a property."

"Highest and best use" is NOT the Constitutional standard for the use of eminent domain.

From the Constitution:

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger;

nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;

nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Prior to Kelo v. City of New London, "public use" was assumed to mean a true "public" use, such as a public road, or a public park, etc.

Anthony Kennedy, the same judge who found a "right to dignity" in the Constitution and conflated that with a right to marry, similarly found something called "public purpose", not "use", but "purpose". So Kennedy, in Kelo found the intent of the eminent domain action was more important than the outcome.

Kelo v. City of New London was panned by both the left and the right as one of the ten worst SCOTUS decisions ever. It led to many states modifying their eminent domain laws to prevent similar action in their states.

I recall after Kelo the great Walter Williams was guest hosting Rush Limbaugh. Professor Williams gave a clinic on individual liberty, and proposed private property is the first individual freedom, and from private property come all individual freedoms. He put slavery in the light of denying an individual the right to own his own body and therefore his own labor. He pointed out how individual property is is the source of tradable goods which are the bases of a free market.

If and individual is only allowed to continue to own private property at the whim of the government, it is no longer private property.

But the City of New London has its zero tax revenue generating vacant lot:

Nine Years after Kelo, the Seized Land Is Empty

Ivana Trump was given the Plaza Hotel to manage and ran it into the ground so The Donald had to take it back from her. This was just before the marriage started to break up. As I recall, it was not over some alleged rape. Other, silly, reasons were sited in the press involving her breast implants.

Shortly after, Ivana reinvented herself as a bubbled-headed blond with a thick Zsa-Zsa accent and a hanger-on Italian boyfriend that caused Cindy Adams to kvell in every other column.

I doubt seriously that this will impact The Donald. And given that both Marla and Ivana are paid handsomely, I don’t expect any trouble from them.

Oh, and I, like 2nd Division Vet, am not supporting The Donald for prez. But I do like to point out things I know about him and his family. And enjoy the meltdowns he causes in the media and elsewhere.

And molestation of kids - that’s a biggie in the arsenal of divorce lawyers as well.

He tried to negotiate, at one point offering Coking $1 million for the land.

Besides being a very old story, she did not take the million and her grandson finally sold the property to Ichan for around $500,000.

Also, the "story" began in the 70s, long before Trump owned the land that was to become Trump Plaza (everyone forgets that little point).

For two days you’ve been on the offensive. Why don’t you just go back to doing what you did with Perry - posting soft-focus photos of the hunky Scott Walker?

Tell me about it. But be sure to claim that it happened far enough in the past as not to be verifiable. I assume the Dems will go there next.

What is the debt situation in Wisconsin?

And Cruz was born in Canada. Trump had to be consistent considering his attack on Obama.

Funny how you don't mention his attacks on Hillary.

You consider Chris Christy a conservative? NJ is a mess and Bridgegate is a problem as is the Obama Hug.

Also, your quotes are before he entered the race. No one was listening.

Trouble is, it appears The Donald has good relations with his kids, so that may not be applicable here.

Let’s see - we can’t pay off the kids, as Trump will match it, dollar for dollar. How about we find the school teachers of the kids, if they’re still around - promise to pay their nursing home care if they will state that every day their kids showed up in school, they had bruises that looked suspiciously like Trump Towers? I’m sure I can call my buddies at CBS to get it out, and the other networks will jump on it.

LOL - I like trying a Republican Party ‘strategist’.
