I never said they were doomed. My comment speaks to the boy's decision making skills the parent's placed their confidence in. I've been through that inlet, as well as others up and down the coast. When you see the boats coming in, none going out and a black sky in front of you, you don't need to head out to open water to know you should turn around. Consider this quote from the commercial fisherman who struggled to get his 30’ commercial F/V through the inlet ahead of the storm that was visible to all out there that afternoon, “I said to myself, ‘Those kids are crazy,’ ” said the Jupiter resident and commercial fisherman for 20 years.
