“I can remember a day when the weather report was in the middle of the domestic and international news and took about a minute and a half. It wasnt the news.”
Really?? One of my earliest memories is Hurricane Betsy. I think it was in Alabama or some such place. I was in North Carolina. It was nowhere near me. But I think Hurricane Betsy made the news.
I also have some vague recollection of a lady named Camille....
Betsy and Camille both were New Orleans/Biloxi/Gulfport storms. I got back to Bay St. Louis about 2 days after Camille that went ashore around Pass Christian. Devastating storm but it missed NOLA. Betsy on the other hand was pretty devastating to NOLA. Had Katrina not veered to the east just a little before coming ashore, there wouldn’t have been much left of NOLA. Slidell, Waveland, Bay St. Louis, Gulfport and Biloxi took much more of a hit than NOLA. Again. Not to diminish the damage to NOLA but there’s no doubt it could have been much worse. Oddly enough there wasn’t much in the news about that. (/s) Hell, they’re still talking about Katrina.
You're too young for Edna, I guess!
