Truth is he agrees with large portion of the lib agenda or at minimum the elite power structure and hides behind “show votes” to keep status quo. Pretty simple.....
I don’t know what goes through Mitch McConnell’s head. Yours is certainly one possible explanation for his actions. Another is what I wrote.
If the GOPe is unwilling to confront President Obama and shut down government, they are powerless. All they can do is make symbolic votes on things that will never pass or pass things that Obama supports.
I don’t think it really matters what McConnell thinks so long as he’s not willing to fight Obama. Whatever his motives, he’s neutered the GOP by promising to never shut down the government.

Turtle face is protecting “Republicans” like Ayotte who don’t want to take a hard vote on PP close to an election year.
I doubt there are even 51 votes to defund PP and the GOP don’t want to show the GOP base that fact.
