Proposed changes to Virginia voter registration stirs fears among GOP
Washington Post ^ | 27 July 2015 | Laura Vozzella

RICHMOND — People registering to vote in Virginia would no longer be required to check boxes to indicate whether they are U.S. citizens or felons whose right to vote has not been restored under changes being considered by the Virginia Board of Elections.

Voters would still have to affirm elsewhere on the application, under the threat of a felony conviction, that they are citizens and otherwise eligible. But instead of responding to separate questions about their citizenship or felony status, they would simply sign the form on a line near language that attests to their eligibility based on those and other requirements.

Republicans said they were concerned that Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) was trying to pump up Democratic voter rolls ahead of critical state and national elections. They are calling on supporters to protest the proposed changes at an election board meeting Tuesday outside Richmond.

“If we let Terry McAuliffe have his way, illegal aliens will be able to vote just like you and me — unless you make time to help,” Sen. Thomas A. Garrett Jr. (R-Buckingham) said in an e-mail to supporters and constituents. He urged residents to turn out Tuesday morning to help “thwart McAuliffe’s attempt to disregard the Constitution.”

“McAuliffe spokesman Brian Coy directed questions about the proposed changes to the elections board. Board Chairman James Alcorn said the changes were proposed by staff members at the Department of Elections “so that the focus will be on determining voter eligibility, not whether the voter is able to complete the form.”

This is one of the most spurious, nonsensical statements of claptrap I’ve heard yet.

They can smell that Virginia is almost blue now, thanks to the front loading of illegals and the expansion of the government worker drone base living there.

Dems play for keeps, while Republicans look on and wonder the the hell happened.

I think we should register aborted babies as Republicans and have them vote a couple dozen times a pop.

Republicans help Dems. They’re all the same party. Some people still fall for the Kabuki theater though.

True that. I just hate being on the losing side all the time.

Maybe that is why Trump is such a breath of fresh air.

I seemed to remember Virginia was either #2 or top 5 state that Obama admin dumped a huge number of ‘immigrants’ (refugees from ME).

Maybe the GOP should have done a little more to support Ken Cuccinelli.

McDonnell helped nail the coffin shut. At least the state legislature should stay in GOP hands because the Rats are so heavily congregated in Fairfax County and Richmond city.

The western counties of Virginia broke away in 1863 to become WV. Virginia is now overdue for another split. You’ve got NOVA, and then the rest of the state, and they’re really two different states (although you’re still stuck with Richmond and Norfolk).

Pretty much. If Virginia’s 13 electoral votes go permanently blue, Ohio & Florida become irrelevant. They could call VA early on Election Night, and we’d know the overall outcome before polls close on the West coast.

This needs to be stopped; this is election rigging. Why isn’t the RNC screaming about this?

Perhaps we need a new law that states once passed, no law can be reversed. Might not be the worst thing.

Regarding mooslim population, as a percentage of the local population, Virginia has 27 of the top 100 cities/counties.

Included are #1 Emporia city, #4 Charlotte county, #26 Lynchburg city and #82 Newport News.

Two invasions from the north, an invasion from Mexico and now the invasion of the Mohammedan.

We are very nearly a minority in our own state.

Now it’s all clear why Durty Terry was manipulated into the governorship of VA. Flip Virginia and it’s numerically impossible for the Republicans to win the presidency. You’ve been fundamentally transformed America. There is no political solution.

Illegal aliens are being admitted to the US in their millions quite specifically to influence, and defraud, the American political process.

And Obama is cheering them on.
