He is correct, though. If we have LEGAL immigration only, the people of the USA can decide what type of immigrant they want t0 import. In the old days, you cold only immigrate into the US if you either (a) had a good job waiting for you, or (b) had s sponsor who would promise to ensure that you didn’t go on welfare.
With illegal immigration, the immigrants self-select; with legal, the US selects (or used to, anyway).

The weird thing about Bernie is he says important things that make sense sometimes,and I think he means them. It’s interesting that he appears to be genuinely more interested in the plight of U.S. citizen worker than obama’s open borders policy to flood the U.S. with a permanent majority of Democrat-voting peasants.
I think Bernie also genuinely abhors crony capitalism (really simply one face of fascism) and the rape of the U.S. financial world by Wall Street criminals, whereas obama, Hillary and Warren say those things in public, but in private take hundreds of millions from them to not actually change anything.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that after he would “get them back where they are,” he wants to “expedite” the legal immigration process for the “good” illegal immigrants in the US “of which there are many” after and that “I want people to come into the country,” provided they do so legally on Monday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.
Legalizing the lawbreakers increases the total number of immigrants and it is amnesty.
You would have to change the laws to go from our current kinship system to a merit based one. And you need to reduce drastically the numbers. I have yet to hear Trump say reduce legal immigration.
If you know of a candidate further to the right on immigration than Trump, please let me know who that is so I can vote for THEM!
Dylan Matthews is a perfect example of an education gone wasted. He makes no sense while surprisingly Sanders does on the issue of unlimited immigration.
