The University of Cincinnati is reportedly closed down this afternoon as police officers prepare for potential riots over the death of an unarmed man who was killed by university cops during a traffic stop last week.
Samuel Dubose, 43, who is black, was shot and killed by white UC Officer Ray Tensing after Tensing reported that he was “dragged” by Dubose’s vehicle and “had to fire.” The shooting, called “not good” by Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell, was captured on Tensing’s body camera and is set to be released today:

During the struggle, the car started to roll forward and Tensing was knocked to the ground. Upon recovering, Tensing fired a single shot into Dubose’s head, killing him, police said.IMHO, nothing will get you killed faster than attempting to leave and drive away during a traffic stop.

On July 27, however, Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell admitted that Tensing’s body cam video of the encounter with Dubose was “not good.” “It’s not a good situation,” City Manager Harry Black said to WCPO Cincinnati. “It’s a tragic situation, someone has died that did not necessarily need to die.”

I don’t live there, but I guarantee that Cincy is NOT Baltimore.
A black councilman said this morning that if anyone gets out of line for even a millisecond that they’ll get the old smack down.
And the University is too open an area for an effective riot, the north is a park and hospitals, the west is student renters, the east is hip businesses, and the south is the old hippie rental and club area. NONE of those areas would support a riot. They’ll fight back either literally or legally.
It won’t happen here.

Deters is one of the best prosecutors in the U.S. Very conservative. Says video is senseless killing of civilian.

Yeah, even if he shot in error, i’d consider that a training issue, to be handled administratively. If you, through your willful refusal to act within the law, force an officer to make an instant decision, he may choose incorrectly. That’s the chance you take when you decide to go all Johnny Outlaw.

Yep. If there are riots it won’t be university area.

Waco warded off much for about a decade. Citizens fought back and held up against a siege for near two months (over alleged non payment of a $200 tax). Government didn’t try again until Elian Gonzales.
