A CNN records search showed that Dubose had more than 60 arrests.DuBose was living on borrowed time. All those priors and he had never been killed before? His time was up.He was driving Sunday with a suspended license; it had been suspended indefinitely in January, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles said. In total, his license had been suspended 37 times, his driving records show.
No violent crimes. Most of these were traffic / suspended license violations.
Iiiiinteresting.
The stop was revealing a mounting number of escalating crimes.
Dubose obviously was attempting escape.
Ohio does not have a “three strikes” law, but does have escalating punishment for repeat offenders. Dubose may very well have feared a simple traffic stop rapidly escalating into years in prison.
Yup, living on borrowed time. In the heat of the moment, coupled with furtive movement and a jumpy inexperienced cop, his time ended.
Doesn’t justify the killing, but does explain how the situation moved close enough for that to happen.
