As a person who has spent all of his life attempting to do whatever was necessary to advance the progression of Black America towards Equal Opportunity, my greatest partner in this effort has been Jeb Bush.
While I have known and worked with every governor in this state over the past 50 years — Burns, Askew, Graham, Kirk, Chiles, Crist and others —my relationship with Jeb Bush has been unique and allowed me to truly know “The Man.”
I write this because I fear that many who look like me will do as I used to do before I met Jeb Bush — assume that if a candidate is Republican, they can’t be for me. Assume that the “R” automatically means “Racist,” and that no matter what they say, in the end they are against us.
I’m writing today to tell you: “Not this Republican.” This Republican is different.
When I met Jeb in 1995, I was surprised by “This Republican’s” genuine interest in learning about the unique challenges that were facing black Floridians and impressed by his humility and passion for making a difference — in the lives of all people. It wasn’t just about politics.

You know, I’m starting to question if Jeb is “Authentically White”.
How is he going to preserve “White Privilege”? If he is not, well tell us who will be privileged instead of his racial compatriots.
Taking away the American dream from Americans and giving it to illegals is more accurate.
Don’t care how they try to package and sell Jeb.
No more non conservative bush’s
Real conservative or go fish.
That all may be true. And it could be true that Bush does/has done all those things using Conservative means and methods.
But its also all completely irrelevant. The writer spells out why, with complete clarity in the third paragraph. In doing so he states that he’s the exception, without addressing how to possibly overcome the fact that the things that he’s the exception to (the immovable belief within certain communities that Republicans are racist) is insurmountable.
So yes, Jeb may be all the things he claims. And in a different environment they might actually matter. But this isn’t that environment.
