Here's my perspective. Predators....can be hunted for any reason.

If they're predators. Cecil the lion was chased out of a preserve, which is a place that strives to protect animals and keep balance in nature.

Another issue concerning hunting. What's the justification for shooting deer? That they're predators against chrysanthemums?

He has a bad record with it. In 2007 he shot a bear in Wisconsin 40 miles away from the place where his permit was and later told the officers he shot it in approved place. Got fined and charged with giving a false statement.

100,000 signees. Where do people find time for this stuff. I ain't got no time to worry about lions in Africa. I'm too busy watching the feral donkeys and elephants trampling our Constitution here in America.

Maybe there's a lesson here. If ol' Cecil the Lion had stayed within the boundaries provided by his protector he would be alive today for all the world to admire. But Cecil was lured out of his protected area with the promise of more food by the dentist. Following his instincts, he fell to temptation and his ultimate demise. Too bad, he had it all and he blew it. Adios Cecil, nice to have known you.

What you say! Cecil was an animal and didn't know right from wrong. Animals have no conscience and Cecil was only following his instinct. Animals lives matter. It's the evil dentist's fault poor Cecil's dead? Maybe so, maybe not.

While you ponder that all important question, I'll be pondering another question. Why is the abortion of over 56,000,000 innocent lives since 1973 not as important as old Cecil's unfortunate demise?

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all.

BTW, that’s why there ain’t no lions in Texas. We done shot’em all.

But don’t come to Texas yet, we’re still working to reduce the snake population.

Meanwhile we’re keeping an eye out for camels...

Just another historical example of Barack Hussein Obama's African Rules-mob rule?

Those Soros-Obama-Acorn-with-new-names RICO workers in the White House basement are indeed busy!

100,000 signatures?
Holy mackarel!

The only way to protect the lions is to turn them loose in New York City.

So I'm guessing that Zimbabwe will leave Palmer alone, but the US will stick a charge on him.

What jurisdiction does the US have over wildlife in Africa? Other than any laws that the Zimbabwe itself chooses to enforce?

The US Bugs and Bunnies' crowd has ZERO authority over any foreign sovereign country.

He was also convicted in Minnesota court in 2003 for fishing without a license.
He thinks he’s above the law.

So does Barack Hussein Obama and PIPS Clinton.

Who is likely to do jailtime first? And/or pay an outrageously large fine?

Because there is a loss to the country — an injured party — caused by the dentist whether he meant to or not. If you accidentally injure someone’s property, even if you do not know it is their property, you are liable.

Fortunately, no matter how delusional you may be, neither you nor anyone else, OTHER THAN THE OVERNMENT OF ZIMBABWE CAN MAKE THE "CLAIM OF LOSS" THAT YOU CLAIM FOR YOURSELF. Are you even a citizen of Zimbabwe?

It is worth noting that Palmer was convicted previously in the US for shooting a bear on protected property, then lying about it.

Good grief!
Have you ever served on a jury?
It is also worth noting that, most of the time, a criminal's previous record is not a permissible subject for courtroom argument or discussion.

This should not be the business of the US, at all.

But Palmer's arrest by US authorities would make a great distracter from the lousy Iran deal, Trump's rise, etc. And Palmer makes the perfect bad guy. There's even a report out there that he donated to Republicans (horrors!). So I'll bet the Fed's pick him up. See my post #30 for what I think the charge will be.

LOL. Well that certainly is a response steeped in misunderstanding and overreaction.

I never said I suffered loss. I said the country of Zimbabwe suffered loss. It was their lion. If you can believe the news reports (always an “if”), many over there are mad about it.

If you know enough to coax the lion out of the preserve before you kill it, I don’t see how you could not know that it was not available for hunting. But I am willing to listen to another argument.

This dentist apparently has a history of killing animals in similar situations. He is hardly a grand hunter when he picks these easy kills. The guy is a bum. Now he has an entire country mad at him. Actions have consequences. What was delusional was this man thinking he could get by with what he did.

Sorry for any confusion! My post #30 was on another thread. Here it is:

It is against US law to bring into the country any animal part that was obtained illegally. The law was meant to stop things like the ivory trade, but that’s what I think they’ll get him on.

However, I’ve read that Palmer was not able to bring any part of the lion into the US because everything was seized by Zimbabwe authorities. If that’s the case, they’ll get him for conspiracy to import.

Remember that old saying: If the Fed’s want ya, they got ya.

Is it evil to kill them all?

No adult rational human beings exists in the world of "none" or "all."
I will allow that senility or feeblemindedness is a sad thing to experience.
