Almost everyone, if they find the gumption to stand up for securing the border, will try to take the sting out by calling for increased or at least easier *legal* immigration. I understand why they do this, they are trying to inoculate themselves from accusations that they are anti-immigrant, by calling for more legal immigration.

The problem is that no one ever says, out loud, what is the optimum number of immigrants, what is the right number of newcomers admitted per year, and how do you arrive at that number. We have large numbers of citizens out of work and even candidates I like are calling for more and easier immigration.

Secure the border. Reduce the number of border-jumpers to effectively zero. Enforce the law. Over a very few years the problem will sort itself out.

Please try and follow along in context.....I've actually said the same thing you just said above...and been flamed by the very people giving Trump a pass on it now.

“Secure the border. Reduce the number of border-jumpers to effectively zero. Enforce the law.”

It’s not cheep labor that they want. It’s voters.
They, both democrats and republicans, need
more ignorant voters to offset the middle class conservatives,
that is the majority, that is getting tired of this fake
two part, one party system.
