WASHINGTON A rare gap in the presence of a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf this fall could hinder military capabilities in the war against the Islamic State, the Obama administrations nominee to lead the Navy told the Senate Thursday.
Adm. John Richardson conceded the effects of a two-month gap in carrier presence the first since 2007 under intense questioning from Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., as the Senate Armed Services Committee weighs whether approve the admirals nomination as chief of naval operations.
Without that carrier, that will be a detriment to our capability, yes, sir, Richardson said.

INS Rahav, Tannin, etc. with Popeye turbo SLCM will have less interference.
Very cool.
Many times I was at a public pool, which had a mix of blacks and whites, and none of the blacks knew how to swim. Wade in the shallow end. Yes. Swim, no.
Took a drown-proofing class once where our hands were tied behind our backs and we had to jump into the deep end of the pool. Theory was you could hold your breath long enough for you to float to the top. When the back of your head came to the surface you would lift your head up and back and take another deep breath and back down you went. We were not allowed to kick up off the bottom. Repeat, repeat, repeat. It actually works.
Instructors were standing by to dive in and get you to the top if you were in trouble, just shake your head back and forth as the trouble sign and they were there in a flash.
One black guy in the class. He simply could not float at all. Something to do with your body density/mass being heavier than the water you displace. He gave it a good try but after about 30 seconds under water he started shaking his head right away.
Myth.
I have taught people who were negro to swim.
I had a guy who was white tell me his body density/mass was heavier than mine, ergo why he sank to the bottom.
I told him to sink to the bottom and stay there as long as possible. You cannot do this if you have air in your lungs.
Anyway, to prove him wrong, I picked up an anchor (#5 tine can filled with concrete) and jumped in. I swam around with it. I treaded water.
Calling whatever the US military has been assigned to do in Syria and "Iraq" a "war against the Islamic State" is an insult to every American commander of a real war, from General Washington to General Marshall.
That's a tough target, my friend.
I still don’t understand it.
In the old day’s America would deal with the issue. Here? They gave him a second term.
