Sounds just like our water dept. I called when our house was flooding. Took their sweet time getting here.....spent about 30 minutes digging the valve turn-off and meter from underneath 8” of soil. Meanwhile.....there was a geyser in my house.
My question: How the h3ll were they reading the meter all those months?
A lot of the meters call home to report themselves. Also keep track of when you are using water, useful in finding violators who are watering on the wrong day.

Big brother is watching you.
I would have suspected that there would always be a Map...showing exact locations and precise distances from prominent features in any area be they street or road signs....or other “fixtures” perhaps even TREES.
The Fire Hydrant fiasco was the third in the last two years at that particular location....that I am aware of...and I saw them both...so I knew where the shutfoff valve was located....
It is located under a small RED “manhole cover” ....
Why guys who are professionals couldnt locate it..is way beyond me. There didnt appear to be any Affirmative Action hires in sight unless stupid people in general are now a part of thier quotas.
