And, you could let those who leave voluntarily keep all assets.
Only those caught lose everything.
I think you’re onto something. All we have to do is provide incentives for them to leave. One would be to wipe their illegal entry (or visa overstay) off the books. Another would be to allow them to keep their assets. Perhaps we could even be generous and allow them 3-6 months to transition. That’s an amnesty I can support. Turn yourselves in and we won’t forcibly deport you, seize your assets, and banish you from ever returning.
Of course, all of this is a pipe dream with the likes of Boehner and McConnell leading the GOPe.
