Donald Trump Enjoys Commanding “First In The South” Lead (South Carolina - Trump 34%)
First in the South ^

2016 GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has opened up a commanding 3-to-1 lead over his closest rival in early voting South Carolina. In fact he’s outpolling his nearest three competitors in the Palmetto State … combined.

Just … wow.

According to a poll from Florida-based Gravis Marketing (.pdf here), Trump is supported by 34 percent of “First in the South” GOP primary voters. That’s more than the combined support of the next three candidates in the poll – retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson (10.9 percent), former Florida governor Jeb Bush (10.5 percent) and Wisconsin governor Scott Walker (10.3 percent).

Another junk poll of registered voters. Why don’t they poll likely GOP primary voters?

Check the crosstabs on page 4 of the poll: http://fitsnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/South-Carolina-Polling-August-2-20152-1.pdf

70% of ‘very liberal’ voters support Trump.
42.4% of ‘slightly conservative’ support him.
30.5% of ‘very conservative’ support him.

Weird.

No Democrat supports Bush, Jindal, Fiorina, Rubio, Paul, Walker or Cruz.

Trump gets 30% of his support in a GOP primary from Democrats.

I forget now exactly who I’ve said what to here now, on this topic.

I have tried to support the Cruz types and wound up with the Bush types for the last five election cycles.

Something has got to change. I see Trump as a larger than life character who can reset the system.

Perhaps we come out of this election with a guy we’re not as happy as we would have wanted to be. It can’t be denied that going in people were looking for Conservatism from him.

If he wins, that’s going to tell the nation what people wanted, if he fulfills that mandate or not.

Does that help us down the road? Has voting for buys like Dole, Bush, McCain, or Romney helped us? I submit a resounding “NO”.

Trump loves our nation. At this point I’ll settle for that.

I sure hope this is his swan song.

IMO he almost single-handedly destroyed the Republican party.

They are thinking

that liberal women fear death in childbirth and the life of the fearful mother is of paramount importance

that a moment of drunken weakness must not turn into the life or death struggle involved in childbirth

So basically it comes down to anyone standing at the Pillars of Styro touting hope and change?

How is a hail Mary pass any different in actual on the ground functionality? Both are wishful thinking over principled voting.

We don’t get guarantees. If you want a thing you sorta gotta vote for it. Win or lose.

78% of Pro-lifers view him negatively.

WTH are 22% of them thinking????

They're black. They'll like him regardless.

I agree. It is strange. For some reason, people from each demographic find something to like in the guy.

BTW: I have seen that Conservative number morph here from almost no support for the guy, to a broad consensus he’s the go-to guy this cycle.

I’ll bet that 30.5% changes considerably over time.

Now that may mean the Liberal side shrinks, but I’m not convinced folks are only buying in to ideology. I think it’s just as likely they buy in because they think he’s a man who will tell you what he thinks, and follow through with what he thinks.

This is why the Democrat and Republican leaderships are scared to death.

Funny how that life and death struggle is accountable for the existence of humans on this planet. And yet I don’t disagree that is their claim.

This will surprise some FReepers, but there are a fair number of people who like govt gravy and are pro-life. In this case they are attaching more value to the gravy.

If you don’t want to vote for Trump, then don’t vote for Trump.

The nation is coalescing behind him. He’s going to be the next president.

What can I say?

I’m hoping good comes of it. I hoped under Bush as he squandered the opportunity folks game him.

I have listened to Trump. He has had time to sit down and draft his views. I like what he’s come up with.

If you don’t, that’s fine by me.
