1. Like Reagan, Trump is a Washington outsider.

2. Reagan was dismissed as a serious candidate, and so was Trump.

3. Trump and Reagan were both attacked by the establishment as being extreme and simplistic. Yet people were so fed up with the state of the country under Jimmy Carter that Reagan beat him in a landslide

4 Trump shares Reagan's "passion" for what he believes in.

5 Trump espouses similar views as Reagan on illegal immigration.

6. Trump is a straight-talker, like Reagan. He doesn't hide behind political correctness, as his comments about illegal immigration demonstrate. Reagan talked to people from the heart and was dubbed The Great Communicator.

7. Trump began as a Democrat before becoming a Republican.

8. Trump, like Reagan, has been a TV star.

9. Trump seeks to follow in Reagan's footsteps

10. Trump and Reagan both opposed runaway public employees' unions.

11. Trump shares Reagan's overall aim as president: to make America great again.

12. Trump favors tax reduction, as did Reagan.

13 Trump, like Reagan, is pro-life. Trump said in April 2011 that he was pro-life after years of being pro-choice.

14. Trump and Reagan both have defended gun rights and the Second Amendment.

15. Reagan was the first president who had been divorced.

Reagan was a true conservative for 25 years before running for President.

Trump was a conservative on some issues 25 minutes before running for President.

This.

The lows the Trumpsters have descended to is just pathetic. Comparing Donald Trump to Ronald Reagan? Just disgusting.

Donald Trump is not a conservative. He has never been a conservative. He has no history of being a conservative. His donations (to liberal Democrats) do not reflect those of a conservative. Trump is not ideologically grounded in conservative thought.

Trump is playing a conservative because he has, sadly, found a weakness on the right that he can demagogue with populist nonsense into gaining their support. Much of the garbage he spews is so obviously silly, yet Trumpsters don't even seem to notice. He would not win the Hispanic vote, he certainly wouldn't win the black vote, he would never be able to make Mexico pay for a wall on the Southern Border, seizing Iraq's oil is fantasy, etc, etc. All laughably ridiculous statements, yet Trumpsters turn a blind eye. It's almost cultlike.

In the end the Trump clown show will end, he will not be the nominee. When that day comes that his self promoting gibberish ends and people tire of him, there are a lot of supposed conservatives that should stop and think about how easily they were conned.

Well said, my experience tracks yours, I also could not hold my nose for McAmnesty.

I won’t for ¡Yeb! either.

I’m almost ready to ram Trump down the throats of the Vichy Republicans as payback for Romney and McCain.

We may have to do that. We’ll see how it goes.

My prediction is that Trump will pull folks across so many demographic barriers, he’s already unbeatable.

You’re a reader. He wrote the book laying out his vision for turning the country around in 2011. It will be rereleased 2nd edition Thursday. Read it! No excuse for not being knowledgeable and expounding UN truths !

You are aware his sister was a federal appellant judge appointed by Reagan and spoke for the conformation of Alito. That his father was also a major supporter of Reagan even before his election to President. Family sent him to NY military school from age 13-18.

If Reagan was running today you would be calling him a RINO. :-)

I hear ya. I’m sick and tired of the ruling class too and disgusted with the GOP. Trump has struck a cord with some folks. But is Trump the answer?

For conservatives to place our trust in a NY Democrat is something most of us aren’t willing to buy into at this point. Maybe never.

Walker has the record of fighting and winning against Democrats. We saw Madison Dems in fits of apoplexy and practically blind with rage over their inability to unseat that guy. Have we forgotten so soon? He does the one thing we ask of any Republican: he fights!

As far as limiting government is concerned I think that Trump will cut government in order to save money.

It may not be for idealistic reasons but I think he would make major cuts in costs, therefor government, just like he would in one of his businesses.

I agree with you about comb overs and toupees. I like bald men as much as I like men with hair. They often do have more testosterone, not a bad thing!

However, Trump has hair all the way over his head. I can’t tell you if some of it is plugs or weaves, but his hair is attached even under that platform.

If Ronald Reagan who IMO was the greatest President of our lifetime was running this year half the people on FR would call him a RINO.

Love this.

I don’t understand why some are such purists that they don’t want to cast their vote for anyone imperfect.

Killing political correctness is in 2015 more important to the chance of us having a constitutional government again than playing the socialists’ game and excitedly voting for a pure conservative that the Statists have put before us so that we will lose.

D1, how can we explain this to them? I fail every day.

It’s like starving nearly to death, and seeing a loaf of bread, a kind you might not like, but it’s filled with nutrition, up a short tree that you can climb up and get, if you are careful. Then you also see your most favorite cake in the entire world, chocolate made by your favorite bakery, unbelievably with your favorite milk chocolate frosting with fresh cherries in the filling and your favorite whipped topping on the top. But it is up in a much higher, flimsier tree, out on a branch three stories high that will not support your weight.

Clearly we can’t have chocolate cake Cruz in 2016 for President. Less so anyone even more purist than he is. But we can subside on wholesome bread, we can survive. The nation might move toward health under Trump.

Maybe that is also a bad analogy. We need a really good one.

Another reason to love Trump / Cruz is that Trump may only need 4 years to get us back on the right track. He doesn’t want to sit in the WH forever attempting to get rich after. The kind of cleanup he will do might be getting started, Cruz cod be learning from him, he from Cruz, and then we get a very good chance of Cruz being our President.

Honestly, looking at 2016 this is the FASTEST and most secure way to get a constitutional conservative into the WH. I wish more people got that.

Obama didn't even consult with physicians or hospital administrator when developing Obamacare.

What about the photo op on the White House lawn with all the "physicians" in their new white coats.

Does that count ?

Vote for who you like, it's your right. It appears a lot of people are trending that way.☺

The debates are really a show. It's morphed into who can comes up with the cleverest quip or retorts. Occasionally The debates are great. Perry. Once in a life time or several times Reagan had some great one liner retorts.

You're likely aware when Reagan was debating Mondale long ago and the stupid moderator brought up Reagan's age possibly being a factor. Reagan, with a deadpan face says, "I'll not make age an issue in my campaign to exploit my opponents youth and inexperience." >Big league laughs.<

The moderator and Mondale looked like jackballs. Great stuff.

Disclaimer: No way am I comparing Trump to Reagan or anyone else. That was then, this is now....Btw there are some great comments on this thread.

Good luck.

“I wish more people got that.”

I see it as a case of them letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
