Uneven Performances in Trump-less Republican Forum
The New York Times ^ | AUG. 3, 2015 | JEREMY W. PETERS and MICHAEL BARBARO

Posted on 08/03/2015 10:00:52 PM PDT by conservative98

Jeb Bush stumbled through a familiar question about his brother and father, struggling for the right words as he cracked a joke about duking it out with anyone who questioned the legacy of his aging dad.

Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey awkwardly said aloud what many have been wondering about his candidacy: “Am I washed up?”

And Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina reached back to the 1990s to attack Hillary Rodham Clinton’s credibility by dredging up her husband’s dishonesty about a sexual affair.

Mischievously promising to translate “Clinton-speak” for the audience, Mr. Graham explained, “When Bill says, ‘I didn’t have sex with that woman,’ he did.”

After weeks of preparing for a smash-mouth debate with Donald J. Trump, 14 Republican candidates found themselves instead Trump-less but sandwiched into a constricting format on Monday night, delivering strikingly uneven performances just days before the first big test of the presidential primary contest.

Rather than making the other contenders look more presidential, however, the event, at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., seemed to shrink the candidates.

Bush, Graham, Perry, etc are a bunch of retarded LOSERS.

I mean they aren’t capable of beating that evil monster SHRILLARY! Clinton.

Pathetic weirdos.

There's another factor. If those governors are good RNC lapdogs, and they're popular enough in their states, they might be able to control the delegates from their state.

How many governors are on that list? How many delegates do their states add up to? That factor could throw the nomination.

Thankfully, it was a snooze-fest, but I thought Carly and Jindal were good and didn’t Lindsey Graham break into tears?

Agreed.

I watched the whole thing, and came away impressed. Every facet of the Washington Cartel was rightly criticized.

Graham did appear to break into tears (and recovered quickly), but I've found that speaking of family (as he did) tends to do that. I even pardon Boehner for that emotion.

After 7 years of Obama depressing this country and this viewer, the debate was refreshing—all of it!

Hmm, just read everyone's posts.

I watched Carly Fiorina (good), Scott Walker (impressive, again) - and then Pataki came out. Um, I've got to go scoop the litter box....

Rubio looked and sounded great. Cruz did very well too. Bush looks out of place or something. Missed Walker. Like them or not these are the ones to watch.

She is not presidential material to anyone associated to Hp or outraged by her incompetence as a CEO.

Guess my thinking is colored by her unceremonious firing from HP.
She made some horrible choices that sent the co. In the wrong direction apparently.
That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t make good choices for the country, but it can and will be used against her.
The Dems love their baby-killers like Feinstein, Pelosi, Hillary, but they are expert at destroying female conservatives.
They love Women’s rights unless the women are conservative or female fetuses.

The forum was like a beauty pageant where the contestants are trotted on stage one at a time and asked their opinions on the issues.

Graham was upset because there was no swimsuit competition.

Didn’t even know this took place.

I guess that’s how little it mattered.

I don’t know much about her HP experience except didn’t it work out ok in the end...after she was fired? She took on Compaq then let the
“redundant” people go (hate putting it like that) and then took on the visa workers - which is what they all do, right or wrong. Isn’t HP benefiting now from what she put in place despite it’s unpopularity? I happen to know they have a lot of workers located in Mexico - I have to contact them sometimes for invoices and couldn’t figure out why they all had Mexican names until one day I found out they’re all in Mexico.

I am really just asking - I don’t know any answers on this.

Supposedly she made product line decisions that cost HP much business. My son was an IT Director at the time and he quit buying HP products for his system.

Hmmm

Wonder if they were unprofitable lines?

Thanks for the answer. I like what I hear from her...think she deserves a place at the table.
