Angry vandals defaced the vacation home of lion killer Walter J Palmer overnight on Monday, while also littering the American dentist's driveway with pig's feet in a show of outrage over the death of a beloved lion named Cecil.
Pictures taken Tuesday morning outside the 55-year-old's $1million vacation home in Marco Island, Florida show the garage door spray painted with the words 'Lion killer!' and a handful of orange pig's feet scattered across the front of the house.
Palmer has been in hiding ever since he was identified last month as the big game hunter behind the cruel killing of a well-known lion named Cecil, who was illegally baited out of a protected Zimbabwe wildlife reserve and let to suffer an arrow wound for 40 hours before he was finally brought down.
Since then, Palmer has become one of the most hated men in America, as animal rights activists use Cecil's death as a reason to bring down the big game hunting industry.
After receiving tens of thousands of death threats, the married father of two closed his dental surgery and has not been seen at either his house in Minnesota nor his mansion in Florida.

It’s really pretty simple. The vast majority of people really really don’t want people to shoot lions for kicks. It’s no deeper than that.
They used to have someone to speak up for them but the spokecritters got eaten. At least that is what the spokeslion for the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Claws and Paws) said. Don’t know if I believe him or he’s just lion.
If you had lions running amok in the street that could get very interesting. If they were also burning cars and looting stores that would be even more interesting.
I have known several dentists and not one of them has the extra income to make hunting trips to Africa that cost several hundred thousand dollars as well as have a million dollar vaca home in Florida and no telling what else.

You're right, of course. It's just such a weird thing to do that most people are having trouble feeling any empathy. Presumably, it has something to do with an effort to appear more manly. We're not all doing a good job of teaching young folks what it really means to be a man, I guess.
On the other hand, the consequences for this guy have been pretty extreme. I'm sure he regrets having trashed his entire life because of this bizarre need that he felt. I've thought that he should come forward so that people can see that while he may be flawed, he is still human and not some kind of monster. Eventually, he'll have to come out of the bunker and I think some folks are going to be surprised by what he says about all this. He's probably learned a lot.
It’s the internet giving people the power to do something about things they are strongly against. They want to crush this guy to set an example to others who want to go smoke a lion just because they can. It will give pause.
The right makes the point about lack of outrage in comparison to the PP videos on the Radio and Internet but does very little about it on the street.

I'm pretty sure the people worked up over Cecil are more likely to have trust funds than EBT cards. Poor people don't care about dead African lions. Hell, Africans don't care about dead African lions. Cecil's demise is a First World problem.
These idiot bambi lovers need to read that book. That's the reality of big cats in Africa. They think the natives snuggle up and cuddle the cats.
