Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Wear Deet. WNV is not to be underestimated.
Is pinellas a place or a type of chicken?
It’s a chicken squat kinda place...
It’s the county St. Petersburg, Fl. is in..
Thankfully I’m immune. You’re all going to die. I’ve already had it. Knocked me out for about 3 days.

West Nile Ping...
Oh good...someone I can ASK! I had a number of mosquito bites (a couple of particularly nasty ones). A few days later, this past weekend actually, I became horribly ill very suddenly.
Dizziness, weakness, terrible back/hip/neck pain, headache, HIGH fever...as in not since I was a kid...103 at times. Like the flu times 10 without any stomach or respiratory symptoms at all. Incapacitated (more like “passed out”) described me well..lol.
No one who was around me...even very close if you get my drift has become ill. The first day and 1/2 I thought it was the end of me. Back to normal now..mostly. I finally went to the Doc and they drew blood to make sure it was viral, but obviously they send it to lab to figure out what in particular. What were your symptoms when you had WNV?

West Nile's worse under these mosquito breeding circumstances...
There are apparently 2 types if illness associated with WN. There is the kind like I (and possibly you) had, that hits you all at once and knocks you off your feet. If you have a strong immune response (my immune system kicks ass), it won't last long at all. If you have a weakened immune response it is going to take a lot longer to recover, and doing so can let it get more established in your body. Some folks who have WN are out for months. It can get in your spinal fluid and other things and generally pretty much destroy you.
The good thing is, if you get it and bounce back, you shouldn't have to worry about it again.
Thanks for the reply...same exact deal for me...3 days and “poof” it was gone just as quickly as it arrived. Thank goodness.
