Oh puh-lease! Do you know how old these B52’s are?
I bet they’re older than you. And do YOU drive a 1955 car to work?
Hate on Huck all you want. But he was brilliant last night.
[And do YOU drive a 1955 car to work?]
Not me, I drive a 1957 Bel Air instead. Built like a brick outhouse.
The airframes are 50 to 60 years old. Everything else in them is state of the art; putting a majority of the military aircraft in the world to shame in comparison.
Tractor-Trailer truck design has not significantly changed from 1961. Plenty of component development that could be applied to older units.
I agree.
For me it was the biggest surprise of the night.
Agree, his answer about transgender was a classic, one I will use. The military is for killing and breaking things to keep us safe, it isn’t a social experiment. I thought all of his answers were right on target last night. I like Trump for what he is doing (breaking things politically)...but Cruz and Huck had the clearest and best thought out answers if all the candidates. Both are extremely articulate.
I know EXACTLY how old B-52s are. I flew them.
Comparing an aircraft to a car is not even close to reality.
B-52s have gone through 5 separate complete upgrades of their avionics and electronic warfare systems.
They get an entirely new skin every 8-10 years.
They’re on their 4th set of wings.
Aircraft are designed that, if maintained, to have indefinite lifespans.
There’s not much of the original B-52s, other than the basic fuselage structure, that HASN’T been replaced and updated. . .
When the last B-1 and B-2’s are taken to the boneyard, the aircrew will hitch a ride home on B-52’s.
