Study: More People Developing Dementia Earlier, Death Rates Soaring

Researchers found that people are developing dementia a decade earlier than they were 20 years ago, possibly due to factors such as pollution and insecticides, as reported by The Columbus Dispatch.

The study compared data from 21 Western countries between 1989 and 2010 and found that the disease is more commonly diagnosed in people in their late 40s, in addition to climbing death rates.

The research suggest the issue is particularly severe in the United States. Study authors say neurological deaths in men over the age of 75 have nearly tripled, and have risen more than five-fold in women. Scientists partially attribute this rise to environmental factors and widespread use of pesticides, according to the London Times.

...

Deaths caused by neurological disease have risen in 55- to 74-year-olds and have almost doubled in those over 75 years old, according to the study. Sixty percent of the increase in deaths were due to dementia, with 40 percent of deaths attributed to other neurological disease like Parkinson’s and motor neuron disease.

“The rate of increase in such a short time suggested a silent or even a hidden epidemic, in which environmental factors must play a major part, not just aging,” lead study author Colin Pritchard said.

Other researchers are careful to note that environmental factors are only a possible element of the findings, and in no way proven.

are these “facts” a bit skewed?.....because more people, infact MOST people in the US live well past 75, of course we’re going to see increased deaths from some certain diseases, like prostate cancer...

That is what first popped into my mind as well. But that doesn’t fit the agenda.

I think the dementia is the result of high fructose corn syrup.

There, I have spoken. I never liked Coca Cola with that stuff in it.

I’ll put my bet on obesity and diabetes - hyperglycemia messes up the microvasculature - eyes, kidneys, and the brain.

I blame a lot of this on the widespread use of statin drugs.

Even IF cases are increasing, the article’s attempt to pick a cause is ridiculous.

The article is long on hyperbole and conjecture. It is totally devoid of scientific analysis. It may be true but I doubt it. Until a controlled scientific study is presented the article is pure Bull Sh—.

The reason that I call it Bovine Scat is immense amounts of data is easily available today in the literature to either 100% sure prove it is valid or 100% sure to show the premise is Bovine Scat.

Until I am shown controlled studies, I official declare the article 100% pure, alarmist bovine scatology of the highest order.

Possibly due to increasing volume of Leftist bullshit.

America needs to learn where the off switch is.

"factors such as pollution and insecticides,"

Ask anyone who has a garden what could they grow without insecticides and they will tell you 'nothing'. It's the same with farmers.

Someone, who knows, told me the new pollution standards the EPA has passed om coal fired plants is so severe that if you have 'silver' fillings in your teeth there is more mercury in your spit than is allowed from a power plant emission.

So compared to pollution 50 years ago we don't have 'pollution' now.....

I think people live in a fantasy world now, where they think nothing bad can possibly happen to them...

I refuse to drink Coca Cola made here. I buy the Mexican variety, made the old-fashioned way with cane sugar. Get it by the case at Costco, or buy bottles at any Mexican deli or burrito outlet.

One might also speculate that the pharmaceutical companies have a treatment drug at the ready. This is prep for that certainty. Even if it does not work for everybody or makes people sick, it will be deemed worthwhile and therefore, prescribed both for preventative as well as treatment drug.
