EPA spill: 'The magnitude of it, you can't even describe it'

The city of Durango and La Plata County, Colorado, have declared a state of emergency after a federal cleanup crew accidentally released mine waste into the water.

An estimated 1 million gallons of waste water spilled out of an abandoned mine area in the southern part of the state last week, turning the Animas River orange and prompting the Environmental Protection Agency to tell locals to avoid it.

According to the EPA, the spill occurred when one of its teams was using heavy equipment to enter the Gold King Mine, a suspended mine near Durango. Instead of entering the mine and beginning the process of pumping and treating the contaminated water inside as planned, the team accidentally caused it to flow into the nearby Animas River.

Isn’t this the same EPA that will bring in cap and trade under Obama by closing all coal fired plants in America and thereby raise energy prices to obamacare record levels? The President and the demo scum party are the evil of the earth and the demise of America.

When is that supposed to happen? Trying to decide whether to sign an oil contract this year or float.

Only if there is enough media pressure; more like early retirement with all those government benefits. Courtesy of you and I.

That whole reasoned with thing is a farce. The bureaucrat has this over a normal person:

1. They cannot be fired and therefore their job performance is not relevant to you.

2. Their real boss is their political sponsor which may be a person, company or industry, not you the ‘client’.

3. Their errors are costless and therefore they have no incentive to change or improve.

4. They operate by force either passive or aggressive.

Americans should be infuriated that some nobody can force them to live how that nobody wants them to. If a private citizen did what government does we’d convict them of extortion, blackmail, assault and battery, theft, criminal conspiracy, etc. Why give them a pass?

-— Our tax dollars at work. I bet we never learn the names of the bureaucrats responsible. I bet they’ll never be charged. Hell, they probably won’t even be fired. If these were private sector workers, they’d be villainized, charged and jailed. -—

3) The report will find that mistakes were made
4) The media will report that a report was issued finding that mistakes were made

-— or is it that this is not industry that caused it but the federal boobs. -—

The environmentalist screechers aren’t environmentalists, they’re communists, like Obama.

Yes, why give them a pass?

But what do we do. We tried the ballot box... it does not work.

I think we are all reluctant to face the truth and if we did we have been conditioned to reject the action the truth requires.

We will never know their names, nor consequently will we know their possible outside affiliations with any anti-coal, anti-capitalist militants such as those who’ve been bullying Colorado recently. The record shows they are not worried about the consequences of their actions normally with regards to the impact on human life. People are only an abstraction to that kind of group and there’s ample reason to distrust their intentions.

I want somebody from the government to go to JAIL.

I’m optimistic about the future. Obama’s a disaster and we’re bottoming. We’re winning on the 2nd and ending abortion as we know it. Too few FReepers realize that the future looks bright.

I’m trying to be and trying to encourage people to not let the next 18 or so months cloud their plans for the next 20 or 30 years. It is much harder to do when you are older.

I still hold out a little hope because I see that the last 6 years and 6 months or so has been a horrible anomaly in our history. We are at unprecedentedly low interest rates but we also have an unprecedented national debt that does not encourage interest rates to be allowed to rise. The economy is stifled by this cretin and his gang of thugs. I could go on but won’t.

The obongo maggots are not on the run. They are teflon dons. Nothing sticks to them.

It is always darkest and coldest before the dawn. I am anxious for it to stop getting colder and darker.

You mean for fuel oil for heating? Do it now.

I’m topping up all of my fuel tanks this month.

It may get lower but not much.

Is this the same river that the Durango-Silverton train follows? If so, what a shame. Such a beautiful ride.

Yes, we're talking about the same Animas River...the infowarrior
