In NJ you don't need a gun to get rid of a bear. Just sick the cat on them.

The cat is named Jack and he treed the bear not once but twice. He would have gone up the tree after the bear but he had been de-clawed. He kept the bear up the second tree until Jack's human staff member called him off.

Note: Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
