I wonder what the definition of “debate” is.

Isn’t it supposed to have points and rebuttals between participants?

What happened to all that?

The Kennedy/Nixon debates were great like that.

In the old days of 1/2 hour national news once per day, the anchor introduced the reporter on site, the reporter would give a comprehensive expert report of whatever his specialty was and hand it back to the anchor.

The anchors did not interrupt or obstruct the various reporters’ short time. There wasn’t much time for anything but facts. It was heaven compared to now days.

Most days the President himself wasn’t even mentioned.
