For those interested, the BBC is reporting that a petrol (gasoline) storage tank may nave caught on fire and then exploded. Sadly, the casualty toll will be quite high given what we’ve seen on video in past from above-ground gasoline tank explosions. :-(

There are actually a lot of fireworks factories in China. I doubt this was one but there are many in China.

Fire caused a first explosion, which then caused the HUGE explosion seconds later. That explosion causes several secondaries to the left of the main explosion.
The thing about blowing up a Chinese city is an hour later you feel like blowing up a Chinese city again.

It appears a fire caught people’s attention, so they started videoing. Then a small explosion followed a second or two later by a much larger explosion.

I’ve been in Tianjin.
They have a large coal gasification plant there, with an enormous gasholder. That’s a huge metal container, perhaps 75-100 meters high and nearly as large in diameter.
They are used to store gas and regulate its pressure as it is sent through pipelines to users.
That is perhaps what exploded.

The problem with China is you can never tell if it’s due to terrorist attack or just another example of poor workmanship and lack of safety standards.

That second explosion does look like fireworks.
The Russian explosion appears massive and right in the middle of a river. Had to be an underground pipe system.
Some of the videos would seem to be a B.L.E.V.E. (boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion)
