I can't help but think there is some bitter irony in play here. The liver is the organ which filters out so many of the body toxins and sends it to the kidneys for further filtering before discharging it in the urine.

Carter did so much to weaken our national defense and turn a friend and ally (Iran) into an enemy. They thanked him by holding our hostages until the moment his successor was sworn into office.

His successor was such a classy man that he still had Carter go and greet the hostages when the plane landed.
