I've been very critical of Trump, but this article has given me better insight. I think he is spot on in naming Trump's genius in using "anchors," and the suggestion of Mark Cuban for vice president is an interesting one. I'm still convinced he is wrong for America, but I also understand the desire to see a stronger position for the USA brand by using the art of the deal.

Trump (D-NY) is a demagogue and speaks is broad generalizations. In a meeting with Democrat operatives looking to throw the election to their party a careful analysis was made of the most volatile members of the TEA Party movement. The GOPe was bushwhacked by TEA Party, but the Democrats always worried about the TEA Party. So they moved first.

What they found about the most Volatile TEA Partiers (and that’s what they called them) they had four push button issues all revolving around a 1950s nostalgia for American ‘greatness’. They are:

1. Immigration in general and specifically illegal immigration.

2. Red China and the ‘trade deficit’.

3. The military and specifically veterans with the VA and honoring them as a backdrop.

4. The coastal elites and their disdain for conservative values across a bevy of issues.

The Volatiles were looking for a brash champion to carry their cause forward. They want fighters, bombasts who take on the media and break through with tough words never backing down.

Thus was born the campaign of Trump (D-NY). Note bene that he hits on each of those issues with vague platitudes and is heroic in nature, brash to the point of tendentiousness and aggressive. Polling showed a candidate like that would peel off about 12-22% of the GOP electorate during the Primaries. More than enough even at the low end to kill off the most electable conservative candidates.

Scott Adams gets it, hopefully conservatives will too.

I say no to Mark Cuban. He is a bigger jerk than what people believe of Trump. This is an interesting article and one which gave me insight into Trump’s deal making. This is going to be an interesting election cycle, that’s for sure. I’m not so certain that even if Hillary gets the nomination, it will be a close race.

A “narcissistic blowhard with inadequate credentials to lead a country ...”

Is he describing Donald Trump or Barack Obama?

People like what Trump has to say and the way he says it. Unlike the current president Trump is an unabashed American who seems to love his country.

I listened to Mark Levine interview him last night. Sad to say The Donald is woefully ignorant about the issues and policy matters. He hasn't really even thought about that stuff. Levine treated him with kid gloves and threw him softballs but it didn't help much.

Trump did say nice things about Cruz. Cruz is saying nice things about Trump. Cruz is going to continue saying nice things while The Donald picks off candidates. He has deflated Rick Perry, Rand Paul, and Lindy Graham. Every time a candidate gets punked by Trump, their support bleeds out to someone else. Trump and Cruz are picking it up.

Look for Trump to exit the race at some point, throwing his support to Cruz.

Trump is using the techniques the left has been using on us for years, with us being clueless about being manipulated.

"Update: When Trump raised his hand at the debate as the only person who would not pledge to back the eventual Republican candidate..."

Seriously, if he had caved to party tradition, he would have lost all credibility. He is the antithesis of the traditional candidate, not an adherent to party protocol. It's the resistance to "business as usual" and the idea that politicians are servants to the people that make him a standout.

WOW there is much great information there. After his hat was thrown into the ring (again) For some reason this time it seemed to be a different Trump and began to listen to his words closely thinking the man makes a lot of sense. Why not try The Apprentice as a model in making America Great Again with himself as the Apprentice and US/WTP asking ourselves do we hire or fire the man. Thus far, there are many across the fruited plain who are rooting for Trump to come out on top. Will he succeed? Thanks so much for this bit of insight. I feel like Diogenes and no longer have constant need for a lantern.
