Queen Risks Life To Mark 70th Anniversary of WWII, Whereas Obama Releases Spotify Playlist

LONDON, United Kingdom – Today HM The Queen attended a memorial service in central London to mark the 70th anniversary of victory over Japan in World War II. She was guest of honor despite the media having uncovered a plot to blow up the event and kill her.

Her attendance at St Martin-In-The-Field church was in sharp contrast to President Barack Obama who did not appear to be commemorating American efforts to defeat the Japanese. Instead he chose to release a list of his favorite songs on the music website Spotify. A move that is likely be seen as disrespectful by veterans.

The President's Twitter account was silent for most of today, and he was reported to have been in Martha's Vineyard yesterday. At the same time, British Police were tightening security at the commemoration in London because of the terror threat from the Islamic State.

The concerns surrounded an undercover investigation by reported on Townhall earlier this week. Journalists from Sky News held discussions with a series of Islamic State terrorists, one of whom claimed a woman from Glasgow was ready to blow up today's event.

The Queen attended the event despite the threat to her life. She was joined by Prime Minister David Cameron and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. Two great-grandchildren of veterans lit candles, to remember the sacrifice of some and loss of others.

Although the vast majority of soldiers, sailors and airmen fighting the Japanese were American, liberals in the country are reticent to commemorate them. The use of nuclear weapons to end the war is often sighted as a reason for this. As a result, the country that risked less had by far the biggest event to remember the war.

Donal Blaney, CEO of the Young Briton's Foundation said: "The White House has largely ignored Victory over Japan Day because winning wars doesn't fit with Obama's narrative of appeasement.

"As a Brit I'm disgusted the Islamic State told us they'd kill our Queen. But I am proud that today she turned up anyway with thousands of my fellow countrymen to protect her.

"You’d think someone born within a few miles of Pearl Harbor would remember the horrors of the unprovoked Japanese attack on the United States in 1941 - and would want to commemorate America’s defeat of Japan 70 years ago this week.

“It’s as if Obama is embarrassed that America defeated totalitarian tyranny. Thank God WE have a Head of State that we can be proud of here in Britain.”

After the church service Prince Charles attended a second event on Horse Guards Parade, behind Downing Street. It featured a fly past by the Royal Airforce and was attended by representatives of the regiments that fought the Japanese.

It is estimated there were 71,000 British and Commonwealth casualties in the fight against Japan, this figure includes more than 12,000 prisoners of war who died in Japanese captivity. Many were starved and beaten as they were used as slave labor, building the infrastructure the Japanese needed to maintain their foothold in Asia.

Bravo to The Queen! She is an amazing woman.

My dad served 3 years overseas during WWII. If he were still alive, he would be cheering Queen Elizabeth and her bravery shown today.

Zero% chance they’d have let her out to play if they really thought she was in (more than usual) danger.

The Queen is amazing. God bless her.

Obviously Obama has no interest in commemorating this important day, but there may be areas of the country who do.

If you live in Southern California, the Queen Mary is acknowledging the end of WW11 tomorrow - 4p.m on the Capstan deck (starboard).

Will include a fly over and beautiful address by the Queen Mary Commodore - Everette Hoard.

I was talking with a co-worker on which music app to get. I installed Pandora then Spotify. That same day I read that Spotify was releasing obamas playlist.

I deleted Spotify immediately.
No way was I going to see the SOB on my smart phone as I looked for music to play.

No that wouldn’t make any difference..

During the war her father refused to move from Buckingham Palace as he felt it would add to the anxiety of his people..

the whole family stayed in Lo0ndon amongst the bombing..he felt that by staying he could inspire and succor the English population and lead his subjects to victory over the Germans...

My mother used to talk about how brave they all were..

I also remember that day.
I was quite young - have a brother 3 years younger.
Our dad had us all get in the car, and we drove into the main street of Huntington, Long Island, New York.
Plenty of cars, all horns honking endlessly.
One celebrant hopped on the running board (!) of our Hudson - on my side of the car - rocked the car, scaring me to bits!
Can’t recall how that ended, or returning to our home . . .
Well, I knew there would be no more sirens, and no more blackouts of the windows of our house.

That was then, during a war, a real war, where everyone in London was in danger. No way in hell her current bodyguards would let her go somewhere if they actually thought there was a decent chance of a bombing. Their bravery during WW2 served a purpose. Her murder by terrorists today would be a tragic disaster, to be avoided at all costs, the 70th anniversary of V-J day is not so important to anyone that they would genuinely risk the life of the Queen.

You are spot on. I’ll say it again. Barack Hussein Obama is the most successful one man sleeper cell the radical Muslims have ever activated against the West. I’ve said it for years, and not as a joke or trying to be sarcastic. I’m just so thankful to God that, at least if not in this lifetime, then in the NEXT... God promises EVERYTHING ever done or said, (or thought probably) by any man or woman who ever lived upon this earth, is going to be revealed to EVERYONE! else. God has all eternity to do it. He can do it in a split second if he wanted to, and in a way we would all perfectly understand and comprehend. He promised it. I believe it. We all should be trembling. I sure wouldn’t want to be in the O man’s shoes when we watch his life, bit by bit, as people from all races and religions who ever lived watch him stand before God on that “day” of judgment.

But history should also credit the Queen (whom I believe is the longest reigning queen in UK history?).

Not quite yet. She will pass Queen Victoria in less than a month from now - on September 9th (63 years, 216 days).
