Pink Floyd Officially Breaks Up

Pink Floyd officially breaks up after announcing a new album, The Endless River, to be released later this year. Guitarist David Gilmour stated that the legendary band is done for good, according to Death And Taxes.

Pink Floyd had originally split 20 years ago, but continued with some of the few surviving members who was still associated with the group. Breaking up wasn’t quite a new beginning for the band, even though they are releasing a new album from tracked culled from the sessions that produced 1994’s The Division Bell.

Pink Floyd officially breaks up while releasing a new album that is intended as a tribute to keyboardist Rick Wright. In those 20 years, the band has only performed a handful of times–mostly at charity events–and hasn’t written or recorded any new songs since The Division Bell.

“I’ve had 48 years in Pink Floyd – quite a few of those years at the beginning, with Roger [Waters]. And those years in what is now considered to be our heyday were 95% musically fulfilling and joyous and full of fun and laughter. I certainly don’t want to let the other 5% color my view of what was a long and fantastic time together. But it has run its course, we are done – and it would be fakery to go back and do it again,” Gilmour said.

I blame the antisemite Roger Waters, even though he hasn’t been in the band for 32 years.

Ditto. I believe he is also a radical truther.

I am going to mark the untimely passing pf Mr. Floyd by listening to one of finest albums ever made.

Animals.

Warning: The above selection is not for those who cannot separate politics from music, because, yes, they are all acutely insane progressive socialists who do not like Israel and do like “Palestine”, and brilliant, brilliant musicians who will never be replaced.

Long live Pink Floyd!

My theory is that the really good musicians use up all their brain cells to perfect their craft. So they don't have any brain cells left over to make good decisions in other parts of their life - like politics.

So I'll give them a pass and listen to their music.

Yeah, I dunno what it is with these creative types.

They all seem to be birds of a feather.

Oh well, I don’t love them for their politics.

This is old news. The Endless River has been out for a while now. I have it. After Wright passed, there wasn’t much Pink left especially since Waters is an incoherent asshole.

“My theory is that the really good musicians use up all their brain cells to perfect their craft. So they don’t have any brain cells left over to make good decisions in other parts of their life - like politics.”

Don Henley and Jackson Browne are two classical examples of that.

Great musicians - but politically lobotomized at the same time.

Maybe it was the fact that both of them grew up in the 60’s...

Yeah, but which one of them is the anti-Semite? Waters? or Gilmour?
