I’m all for Sen. Cruz—but could maybe be happy with Trump as VP. Never hurts to have somebody who’s actually been in business. I don’t like him on emigration, though.

Democrat talking points in 2012.

Apparently you haven't read his book written a year before. Hardly democrat talking points. But go ahead, keep swallowing the propaganda.

You want to call a spade a spade?

Throw your stupid Ace of Spades at the other 15 or so GOP candidates who twiddled their thumbs before Trump came into prominence.

Fine. Trump isn't a leader, he's an egomaniacal, unprincipled, statist charlatan.

Good, that's why people like him. We're tired of beltway, latte and martini-sipping effeminate poll-driven men. He's not unprincipled; I've read his "The Art of the Deal" book when it first came out; it is now mandatory reading for MBA graduates. And he's about as a statist as Ayn Rand.

And any conservative who believes that he is going to "shake things up" or "change the way DC" works, or anything of the sort, is a fool.

Again, you can knock on doors, hand out flyers, and put your faith into the GOPe machine who's going to churn out another turd in the losing tradition of Landon, Dewey, Ford, Bush I in 1992, Dole, McCain, and Romney. No thanks. I'm done holding my nose. There. I'm telling it like it is.

I’m fine with Trump using Executive orders to undo the executive orders on amnesty that Obama has signed and every other executive order he has signed.

Don’t worry about Congress. Like Trump said if you can’t make a deal with a politician you can’t make a deal. Those spineless weasels will finally be forced to face the music with Trump in the Whitehouse pounding them to the public day and night. They won’t be able to fall back on the old whiny Obama will veto it crap.

“This little tempest-in-a-teapot is quite moot.”

Excellent summation, and good info too.

“He will govern via the pen just like Obama. We don’t need another executive order pres.”

I agree with you. And I agree with everything that Trump says about the US immigration policies. However I think we all know that there is no way that Trump is going to get even half of what he wants passed through our Congress. He will have to use executive orders. He has no clue or background to help him to accomplish it any other way.

We will have another president who uses his pen and phone and bullies people around. Some may be fine with that as far as getting his immigration policy forwarded but how about his love of a government-run healthcare system? Are conservatives going to be okay with that one?

What are people going to do when Trump decides after a few months that he no longer wants to be a Republican and goes back to his liberal roots? I suppose they could comfort themselves replaying You Tube videos of Trump standing up to political correctness.

Trump has made conflicting statements on more than one issue. He has donated heavily to democrats and has said he identifies more with the dems than the repubs. He has said the dems manage the economy better illustrating he is entirely clueless about who and what has caused our economic downfall.

He is for banning “assault weapons”. He is not strong on the 2nd amendment even though he claims he supports it. Calling on longer waiting periods is not a conservative policy.

Trump believes that the SC can decide the marriage issue for the states. But he will claim he supports marriage between a man and a woman. He has claimed he used to be pro-choice but is now pro-life. We used to criticize Romney for his wishy-washy stance. I guess he should have said more mean things about immigrants and perhaps he would be president today?

He is in support of more taxes for the wealthy which has proven to be a downer for the economy. He was for government bailouts. He is a complete liberal on eminent domain. He is all in favor of the government seizing private property. Hardly a conservative viewpoint either. But hey. He said all the right stuff about the immigrants and that is all that matters.

There is more than one “most important” issue right now in this country. We are in a crisis but it isn’t just one thing that will bring us down. There are about a half dozen other problems, very serious problems, that will do the same. The economy is one of them. The loss of our Constitutional Republic is another. This is already well on it’s way. What can Donald Trump do to reverse this and bring back our Constitutional form of government? What education does Donald have that will help us? And is there even a will do to so?

This country cannot be save just by getting rid of illegal immigrants alone. Even if every last one of them was deported we would still be left with quite a few very serious problems that will bring us down if left as is. And then what? Our country needs the entire package not a one-note Charlie.

You’re done holding your nose for the likes of Dole, McCain, and the like.....so you’re going all in for a huckster who is LESS conservative than any of those GOPe fools? Because you like his style? Good luck with that.

Rather than have my government spying on me, I’d sooner support a plan to move entire communities of unassimilated muslims and illegal aliens out of my country. Just get them out, and don’t bring them back, and no I do not feel guilty about it at all.

My feelings exactly. If the illegals and hostile aliens were gone I could relax a little and trust my government more.

You are fighting a losing battle around here these days, methinks. The good fight, to be sure, but losing more and more ground on FR every day. It’s a cult of personality - Trump’s positions don’t matter. It’s depressing, and a bit frightening (history is full of charismatic charlatans who get themselves into power based on the strength of their personality; it rarely goes well).

One thing we must not allow the media and establishment to do is define the candidates, because they will define them in their own interests and not reality. They would take Jesus Christ and pillory him if it made their bosses money and gave them power. They did it to the Tea Party and OWS and to any other group that was counter to the Big “E”stablishment.

“Has Cruz ever proposed such a plan in his 2.5 years in the Senate? “

And how many cases has Donald Trump argued in front of the SC and won?

What is his educational background on the Constitution?

I’m with you. Idealogical purity is nice and probably impossible to find in a candidate.

I’m looking at this election not as a chance to vote for ideologically purity but as a way to solve one, maybe two, big problems. Trump sounds serous about illegal immigration. If it takes four years to since that one issue, it’s tempting to support him.

I’m sick and tired of supporting the right issues articulated by politicians who don’t get anything done on the big issues.

I know you are right. In fact I know at least one of these Trump supporters used to be a rabid Walker supporter who said that Walker was the ONLY ONE who could do the job.

Some of these people here just move from one cult to another like they are changing socks.

I didn’t vote for Dole. I supported McCain only because Governor Palin was on the ticket.

Yes want to see that border sewed up and I want to see jobs coming back. That will get us a long way down the road. Trump is right we have to do this stuff fairly quickly. I think he can do it.

As Ted Cruz says, say to politicians “Don’t tell me! Show me! By their fruits you shall know them!”

And Senator Paul voted against the Freedom Act, unlike Senator Cruz.
