The biological parents of a girl found dead in foster care in Auburn are demanding answers about what happened to their daughter.
The Department of Children and Families said 2-year-old Avalena Conway-Coxon died at the hospital after she was removed from her foster home on Pheasant Court in Auburn. The Worcester County DA said another girl around 2 years old who was removed from the home remains hospitalized in "very critical" condition.
"I will never see her smile again," said a tearful Jessica Conway, Avalena's mother. "I will never be able to hold my daughter again and it's because of this foster home."
Avalena's grandfather, David Coxon, said he got a phone call late Saturday night from DCF and he knew right away something was wrong.
"I just never thought it would happen to me but it did," said Coxon. He said the last time he and Conway got to see Avalena, she did not look well.
"She looked terrible," said Coxon. "Her hair was all messed up compared to what we're used to, she had dirty clothes on, she had a doll she wouldn't let go of that was filthy."
Conway said she is in a drug rehabilitation program and was working on getting sober so she could regain custody of her daughter. She called out Gov. Charlie Baker and criticized him for not doing enough when he promised things would change.
"He really needs to step up to the plate and get his hands dirty, which I don't feel like he does enough and really make this a priority," said Conway.
The DA said that four other children have been removed from the home by the Department of Children and Families. Three of the children are biological children of the woman who lives there and the fourth was another foster child.
"My heart goes out to every kid that is in DCF custody," said Ronnie Green, Avalena's father. "Because this could happen to anybody."
No one has been taken into custody. According to Auburn Police logs, officers had responded to 30 calls at the foster home since 2008.
Conway claimed that DCF also lied to her about the foster home Avalena was in. She said she was told that her daughter was in a "beautiful home on the outskirts of Worcester" with a "big beautiful yard," not that she had been placed in low-income housing with six other children
She and he are looking at money they can use to drug up, they could care less. Im sure they didnt put her into foster care she was taken away from irresponsible drug addicted parents. “I will never be able to hold her I will never be able to see her smile” save it!
Thirty calls since 2008? Shouldn’t somebody have taken notice?
The corrupt Uniparty in Massachusetts CONTINUES
to murder children and adults without accountability.
The GOP is as evil as the Deval Patrick was,
and this murder shows it.
Seriously who puts children in a home like that and thinks it is a good idea?
Doesn’t sound like the people they put her with were any better.
So many infuriating things about this story.
The real problem is the DCF bureaucracy whose first impulse is always to grab the child and ask questions later. It’s an institutional problem common to all bureaucracies, whose ultimate purpose has nothing to do with the organization’s stated purpose, but rather its continued existence as a bureaucracy. This is bad enough with other bureaucracies, but this bureaucracy deals with the safety of children, and its casualties are the obscenely mutilated bodies of children.
The dumping of middle class children into the ghetto to be tortured and killed is a form of social engineering that’s new even for the Left. People need to do hard time for this.
Lawsuit?
Hard time? In this matter, capital punishment would be appropriate...
the infowarrior
a leftwing social experiment with predictable results...drug use, promiscuity, no marriage, big govt
Play stupid games—Win stupid prizes.
Messing with drugs hurts more than just your own life.....
Listening to Jeff Kuhner on the radio this afternoon, that is not the case. The problem lies with DCF alone.
Won't stop you from using your poor little daughter's corpse as settlement money for more drugs.
If this took place in Massachusetts why did you use the Topic US:California?
Horror stories about kids in state custody in MA are way too common.
I’m frankly amazed at the people on this thread who basically are saying that the bio parents got what they deserved: you get high a few times, you deserve to have your children tortured and killed.
The F is wrong with people.
They didn’t kill her though, did they? It was left to the state and their approved care giver to do that.
