The leader of a Missouri Oath Keepers group is planning the experimental protest, hoping to arm 50 black people with rifles to demonstrate the meaning of the state’s open-carry law.
Oath Keepers are planning to use black protesters for a special kind of experimental demonstration within the next couple of weeks by arming some 50 black individuals with AR-15 rifles in a march to show what Missouri’s open-carry law really stands for, Red Dirt Report notes.
Sam Andrews, who heads a St. Louis County chapter, said the event will most likely occur within the next “couple of weeks,” comparing the event to Martin Luther King Jr.’s march on Washington, D.C., according to the site.
“It will be an iconic event,” Andrews told the site.
The armed black participants will be surrounded by Oath Keeper members, Andrews said.
The Oath Keeper said that he was moved to attempt the experiment after the anniversary of Michael Brown’s death, when members were allegedly told that they could not carry long-barrel rifles into Ferguson. The Oath Keepers reportedly said that they were there at the request of journalists, providing security while they covered the anniversary.

Exercising the Second Amendment is a ‘stunt’ to you? You sure you didn’t mean to post that crap on DU?
You realize that if the police had such a plan and they executed such a plan that it would be pre-meditated murder, right?
Because just one person being ‘out of order’ does not justify murdering 49 others.
It's more like aiding and abetting violent crime and possibly inciting a riot if things go sideways.
Where in the article did you see that the Oath Keepers (many of whom are also FReepers!) are going to arm New Black Panthers and gang bangers?

Why do you assume blacks are automatically Panthers and gang bangers? Most aren’t. Racist much?
As I pointed out yesterday, on the other thread, the local PD/Sheriff there apparently issued an illegal order banning long arms.
The proper response to an attempted infringement of a right is the full and public exercise of that right. Nothing more, nothing less. And regardless of irrelevant factors like race.
The Oath Keepers are pursuing the correct course here.

Where to start?
That's a hard question, but lets start at the location, which is the city of Ferguson in which the protesters are admittedly made up, in large part, by people who self identify as Gang Bangers and New Black Panthers - many of whom are paid, out of town community organizers agitating and successfully inciting violence and riots.
Many of these protesters have made threats of violence against the general population and they have an obvious history rioting and killing in the area during “protests”. This is, in fact, official policy of the New Black Panthers
Many of the above also self identify as being under the influence of drugs and alcohol to the extent that they are stoned out of their minds and I am fundamentally against people provocatively brandishing weapons in public to make statement while under the influence
Obviously Ferguson has a past history of riots and violence, but the recent past is the worst by far.
The “protesters” at the anniversary of the Brown Riots were not some group of non violent, we shall overcome types intent on peaceful protest to air their grievances. They were self described Gang Bangers and New Black Panthers who were engaging in running gunfights with the police and with other gang members. Lots of rounds were expended in the process.
Once again, many were seriously stoned, which is a probably a good thing because it negatively impacts precision shot placement while in commission of random drive by shooting.
There have been comments by the perpetrators that the intent of the violence was to incite violent racial conflict.
So, in answer to your questions
The Oath Keepers have said that the protesters themselves will be armed.
The protesters themselves have self identified as Gang Bangers, New Black Panthers and community organizers. Many have admitted that they traveled to Ferguson specifically to incite and participate in violence.
All of above have followed through on their threats by starting and unprovoked attack on police and citizens with violence that included heavy gunfire from many shooters - most targeting police officers.
I have absolutely no problem with law abiding black Americans carrying weapons. If fact, I advocate it and have trained more than a few law abiding black Americans in how to do so in a safe, effective and legal manner.
Your assertion that the protesters in Ferguson are law abiding black members of society is simply not supported in fact and is contradicted by the direct testimony of the protesters themselves.
I didn't claim the protesters were gang bangers and NBP members -they made the claims themselves.
I'm just taking them at their word.
I live by the fact that run of the mill, law abiding black people have exactly the same rights that I have - no more, no less.
However, I think you have lost sight of the fact that run of the mill, law abiding black people are the primary victims of the scum bags who are destroying Ferguson and importing violence there.
From my perspective, the Oath Keepers are contemplating arming scumbags who made threats of unprovoked violence and murder against the general population and who have demonstrated the seriousness of those threats by ambushing police officers and engaging in protracted fire fights with pretty heavy exchange of volume of fire.
If these same protesters had access to more accurate, longer range AR-15s, they no doubt would have killed a number of police officers during these ambushes.
Given the circumstances, I have serious reservations about the Oath Keepers plans to provide the protesters with 50 AR-15s to brandish in Ferguson because I disagree with your assertion that this is an exercise of 2nd Amendment Rights.
I am more of the opinion that it constitutes the arming of violent rioters with more effective weapons than the handguns they have already been using to shoot the hell out of police officers and the regular every day law abiding residents of Ferguson, the majority of whom happen to be black.
I have spent a life time advocating for the safe, responsible handling of firearms. In a volatile situation such as we find in Ferguson presently, there is a very fine line between open carry of a firearm and provocative brandishing of a firearm with intent to intimidate and to incite and engage in violence.
Enabling such a situation is not, in my humble opinion, consistent with what I consider safe and responsible handling of firearms.

You make an awful lot of assertions about my comments that simply don’t exist in my comments or in the article at hand.
For me the only thing I need to see is that the Oath Keepers will be running the exercise.

And the Oath Keepers are arming 50 black people. They never said that these individuals were protesters, gang bangers, or New Black Panthers.

If they follow through, they will be arming the demographic I described because that is the demographic make up of the protesters - by their own admission.
If the Oath Keepers recruit 50 random, law abiding black citizens to openly carry AR-15s through the streets of Ferguson , the the event will indeed be a stunt, and very ill advised stunt at that.
The whole thing started when the protesters shouted that THEY, as in protesters, would be arrested if they carried AR-15s like the Oath Keepers - and they would have been arrested for good reason since the AR-15s are not as easy to hide as the handguns these same protesters were using in their ambushes and gunfights with the police.
The Oath Keepers choose to make this a 2nd Amendment issue and offered to provide the protesters with 50 AR-15s to test their theory .
If they give the guns to normal, decent law abiding black people, the police would have no real reason to disarm them, would they so the whole event would be a cheap stunt, no ?
Sometimes very good, well intentioned people do spectacularly dumb things when they let their ideals cloud their judgment and perception of reality.
BTW, I am pretty well aware of who and what the Oath Keepers are.
Lots of men and women of all races and creeds are committed to the continued freedom and welfare of our country, but the media is making a big deal out this in a bad way for the Oath Keepers
My biggest beef with this whole farce is that it allows the propagandists in the media to paint and mis-cast the Oath Keepers to look like some kooky male white supremacist/domestic terror cult in the eyes of the uninformed public.
Of course, nothing could be further from the truth, but that sure is the way it's being spun by a media which has been working overtime to portray the Oath Keepers as a dangerous group of crazy and unstable, PTSD afflicted ex war criminals now become "home grown" domestic terrorists.
The kind who, because of their PTSD related mental disabilities, are ticking time bombs just waiting to explode and who thus need to have their 2nd Amendment rights suspended for the good of society by the DHS and VA based on Psych justification.
It's ironic that ex - military guys would help manufacture their own enemy ambush - and then walk right into it with their open eyes blinded by ideology .

If Michael Brown's dad had taught him to hunt, fish and use the sidewalk, he'd still be alive today and in a few years of excellent (crime free) citizenship, he could have applied for his concealed carry permit.
