Sounds like some barbaric ancient culture...No. It sounds like our culture. It's what we do to harvest organs to transplant.
Once the heart and lungs stop it's too late to harvest them. That's why the patient must be kept on a respirator until the organs are cut out of them - oops, harvesting sounds so much better.
