Western civilization, until now, was largely the embodiment and promulgation of Christian virtue, and it enacted itself at the broadest level only once it had been taught to be expressed through the lives of a sufficient number of individuals.

That trend has ended, and Christian virtue has been, in many ways, rejected by our culture. How do we put that toothpaste back in the tube? We don't.

I think your post sums up what I’ve been telling my friends. And Capitalism is not a good thing in a humanist society. That is why liberals hate it. They are humanist.
