Donald Trump Won’t Eat Oreos Ever Again Since Nabisco is Moving to Mexico

Presidential candidate Donald Trump hosted an event last night in Alabama that saw between 18,000 and 20,000-plus people in attendance.

Roll tide, apparently.

During his speech, “the Donald” mentioned how he is a big fan of Oreo cookies, but will refuse to ever eat them again since Nabisco plans on moving to Mexico.

From The Blaze:

“You know, Mexico is the new China,” Trump told the crowd, referencing the recent decision by Nabisco to move its factories there.

“I love Oreos. I’ll never eat them again. Okay? I’ll never eat them again,” Trump said. “No, Nabisco closes the plant, they just announced a couple of days ago, in Chicago and they are moving the plant to Mexico. Now, why?”

“I don’t blame China. I respect them,” Trump said. “I’m not angry at them. I’m angry at our leaders for being so stupid. I’m not angry at China.”

Oreos — more specifically, Nabisco — caused the ire of the billionaire presidential contender after the company announced its decision not to invest the $130 million for a factory upgrade and will move production across the county’s southern border into Mexico. Nabisco also recently shut down its Philadelphia factory in an effort to expand factories in Virginia and New Jersey, although union members believe their jobs will eventually be outsourced to Mexico as well.

You know things are bad when American workers fear losing their jobs to outsourcing in order for the company to employ cheap laborers.

He’s not wrong about China. What the communist nation is doing is capitalizing on the weakness of current American leaders. They’re taking advantage of a flaw in our highly liberal system that disincentivizes making money.

What would be great about a Trump presidency is that he will not kowtow to any foreign land, and will always put the American people first. There won’t be an Obama-like Middle East apology tour under Trump, that’s for certain.

Ok, tell me if you think Oreo will be cheaper to the US consumer when we start to import them from Mexico?

Furniture didn’t get cheaper and clothing didn’t get cheaper. It all went to margin.

Protectionist tariffs won’t work in this century where Asia, Europe, Latin American countries etc can respond in kind with tariffs on US goods/services.

The US citizen will hurt in a tariff war

The AFL CIO is comprised of dozens of allied unions and has between 8 to 12 million members in the private economy. The public service unions within local, state and federal governments are also still quite robust.
While the overall composition is roughly 10% of the population it is a fight which still needs to be fought.

That damned cheap labor.

Actually, it's that damned sugar support price.

Confectioners in the USA have to pay approximately twice as much for sugar than confectioners outside the USA due to the federal government's dumbass support prices designed to prop up the few cane sugar producers in the country.

Trump may accomplish something no GOP candidate has been able to do for years, attract rank-and-file unionists. The AFL-CIO won’t protect them from Obama’s open border.

I also think he should continue to remind African Americans that mass immigration will make their lives worse. Most blacks know this but none of their “leadership” dares give voice to it.

...they deserve to know where their food is coming from.”

I think it’s more than that. Oreos, specifically, are a North American tradition and product and we want it to remain so. Am reminded of the great Oreo commercial featuring a father and his son sitting at an oilcloth topped kitchen table with a glass of milk and a package of Oreos and he is teaching his son how an Oreo should be eaten.

Baseball no longer has the old fashioned form of cracker jacks with those wonderful toys, can’t have apple pie or pie of any kind because it’s bad for you and the Chevrolet brand is not longer buyable because of so many reasons. And now they’re taking away our Oreos. Toooooooo much!

NO, you are not correct. Look at the BLS website. Only 10% of manufacturing is unionized This is a fact.

You’re paying a tariff on sugar, and wondering why Oreos moved to Mexico?

As a business guy how can Trump blame a business when its govt policies pushing them to make decisions like this.

The tax isn't 100%. What about doing what's right for your country once in a while, even it costs you a little bit? When it's all said and done they will need Americans' brand loyalty to survive. Short term profits to long term destruction.

Oreos are an extremely poor substitute for Hydrox cookies

besides, they will probably still be made in Lindon Kentucky

Actually I would like to replace the Federal income tax with tariffs and a sales tax.

But in the meantime a 10% global tariff would raise 400-500B / year and balance the budget.

Haven’t had either in a long time, but I remember in the 50s the Oreo was far tastier. When mom brought home Hydrox I was sad.
