What a heartbreaking loss.
The news came last week: The Harlem Globetrotters severed ties with the Washington Generals after 63 years.
The Generals are no more.
I feel like Ive been hit in the face with a bucket of confetti.
Since 1952, the Generals, created by Louis Red Klotz, had stood for something.
In fact, theyd stood for almost anything except winning.
Yet there was a dignity to them. There was Generals pride.
Yes, America, you can have pride even while your shorts are pulled down.
The Generals last game as comic foils for the Trotters was on Aug. 1.

Its time to retire the GOPe too.
To: Kid Shelleen
Exactly.
The GOP is to the ‘Rats as the Generals were to the Globetrotters.
Fake opponents.

If I knew how to use photo shop I would make a picture of Obama as Curly Neal dribbling around Mitch Mcconnell and John Boehner and Jeb Bush.

I saw the Globetrotters a few years ago, and they played a team called the New York Nationals. The Globetrotters won the game.
To: Kid Shelleen
The Republican Party has become the political equivalent of the Washington Generals.

When I used to coach grade school bb, one of the parents was convinced the Globies could beat any NBA team. I could not dissuade him.
To: driftless2
I’m not sure they could beat just any, but I bet they could play .500 ball against about half the teams in the NBA.

No. The worst team in the NBA would slaughter them.
To: Kid Shelleen
The Generals should go out on their own.

I wonder if the House of David is still on the Globetrotters schedule.
Can't fathom the Washington Generals being rifted out.
Is this an Obama thing?
