Wasn’t me, I was in bed by nine.

And the Galleria area is for tourists.

Fortunately, the officer was not seriously hurt and the dim bulb driver was arrested.

Wonder if he was an illegal alien. These days, the news won’t identify race or immigration status.

I’m glad that LEO will be okay, and that the idiot driver was arrested-this kind of thing probably happens more often that most people know.

My first husband and I had a friend from college who left the Corpus Christi PD to go to work for the Dallas PD, because the pay was much higher. Less than a year later, he was run down and killed during a routine traffic stop, leaving a wife and two small children. The hit-and-run driver-a known drug dealer-was apprehended on the way to the OK state line, with a trunk full of stolen prescription drugs.

Houston: 100% foreigners except for me and Grams A.

I work in the Galleria. Like most of Houston, companies here pay cops to stop traffic so as to permit their employees to exit their parking lot. Traffic is so bad those folks would wait hours if not for those cops.

Walking out into traffic as a career seems like a bad idea, long term.

Sorry you have to deal with that every day. Quit going to the Galleria when Lord & Taylor closed. I do have to drive into the city twice a week but started going early Saturday and Sunday mornings before most folks are up. But even then I do concealed carry and am very careful where I go and pay attention to my surroundings. Hard to find any area, even in the suburbs, where the majority of the people have English as their primary language. Have noticed more and more women in burquas and hijabs.

There is a tiny benefit: spices, in bulk, are waaay less expensive in the ethnic store than in “the white people’s store”.

I have a relative that does a thing with booze infused with cinnamin, and gives it as gifts at Christmas. An enormous bag of cinnamon sticks is like $7 at the Indian store and could easily be $50 at the white people’s store.

Same with all the other spices.

Plus if you have a heart attack in the Indian store there’s bound to be a cardiologist on hand.

That is just tooooooooooo funny, and probably true because most of the cardios I know are from India. Needed a laugh after a horrible Monday. There is a small Indian grocery store right next door to our local Pappa John’s Pizza which we frequent regularly. Wonder if, based on your comment, that is some kind of an omen.

Spices are incredibly expensive, particularly cinnamon sticks and cloves which I, too, use a lot of at Christmas to do spiced cider. Will certainly check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
