ATTACKING Captain Andrew Hastie is the last straw. How low will Labor’s media mates go to destroy the Abbott Government?
Let me tell you about Hastie, the man the Melbourne Age smeared all over its front page on Saturday.
Hastie served in the SAS, our elite force that has done so much heroic fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Two years ago, he led a platoon fighting Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan — one of his three tours there.
He was in a helicopter, and some of his men were in a firefight on the ground.
They won; the Talibani lost. But to check whether they’d killed the Taliban commanders they were hunting, one of Hastie’s platoon cut off the hands of three of the dead to take back for fingerprinting or biometric tests.
This was in line with what one investigator from the Australian Defence Force Investigative Service had recommended as a last resort.
Hastie reported this incident to his superiors. He said on Saturday that while his men acted honourably, mistakes can be made in battle “when people are trying to kill you”.
The army has so far cleared all the platoon, Hastie included, bar one soldier, who has been kept in dreadful suspense for two years.

But last week, Hastie made a fateful decision that turned him into an enemy of the media Left, especially the Fairfax newspapers.
He quit the army to stand for the Liberals in next month’s election in the federal seat of Canning, to replace Don Randall, a popular local member who died last month.
That is why he woke up on Saturday to see his picture on the front page of The Age alongside an article headlined “Question of conduct” that vilified him as possible war criminal.
Yes, it really is that disgusting.

The Age is one of the two main daily newspapers in Melbourne, Australia second largest city. Along with its stablemate, the Sydney Morning Herald, these are probably the most left wing newspapers in Australia (they are countered in Melbourne by the Herald Sun and in Sydney by the Daily Telegraph and across the country by the The Australian which are all related, mildly conservative papers (they tend right, but nowhere near as strongly as The Age and SMH tend left.
I doubt I need to explain what the SAS is to most Freepers, but just in case, they are the Special Air Service - Australia's most elite special forces soldiers among the best in the world (Britain and New Zealand also have units referred to by the same name with the same traditions - the Australian and New Zealand ones growing out of combined British Empire forces of the Second World War).
Why are the left wing press now sliming Hastie? In essence, it's because of their incredible hatred of Australia's current conservative Prime Minister Tony Abbott, and his government. If the Labor party manages to win the upcoming Canning by-election, it is possible this could trigger Mr Abbott being replaced as leader of the Liberal Party, and as Prime Minister - and they don't care who they smear to try and achieve these goals.
To his credit, the leader of the Labor Party (and Leader of the Opposition) Bill Shorten does not seem to want any part of this vile campaign (he has very publically reprimanded two Labor state MPs for spreading these allegations) but that really just illustrates how disgusting the behaviour of those who are spreading it is.
Next time cut off all their heads to take home for a positive ID.

Completely understandable. Helicopters have weight limits, and a return trip back to Indian country to retrieve the bodies might not be practical, since the deceased’s buddies might have had the same thought.
I just don’t get it....all liberals whether in Australia, UK, US, or where ever, believe that it’s fine to kill, torture, and what ever those who stand up for their country, and keep the rest of us safe, but heaven forbid if one of the enemy is treated the least bit harshly, or get their feelings hurt, then it all hell to pay. Isaiah 5:20, “Woe to those who call good evil; and evil good, who turn darkness into light, and light into darkness; and turn what is bitter into something sweet, and what is sweet into something bitter”. Everything is backwards, up side down, or however anyone wants to put it. GOD help and have mercy on us. GOD told us it would be like this and it certainly is.
