By REENA FLORES CBS NEWS June 28, 2015 GOP Gov.: "Time To Move On" From Same-Sex Marriage
Possible Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich believes it's "time to move on" from the same-sex marriage issue in the wake of the Supreme Court's landmark ruling.
"I do believe in traditional marriage and the court has ruled and it's time to move on," Kasich said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, adding that there's "so many other things now that we have to focus on."
Gov. John Kasich talks issues ahead of possible 2016 run Kasich, who has not yet officially announced a bid for the White House in 2016, believes the country needs to wait and see "how this evolves."
"I think everybody needs to take a deep breath to see how this evolves," the Ohio governor, who was the named defendant in the original lawsuit brought by Jim Obergefell over same-sex marriage, said. "But I know this. Religious institutions, religious entities - you know, like the Catholic church - they need to be honored as well. I think there's an ability to strike a balance."
But while the Republican governor has conceded that "it's the law of the land and we'll abide by it," some in the conservative wing have expressed their willingness to take on the same-sex marriage fight over the long term.
Same-sex marriage opponent: conservative beliefs need to be respected Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Convention told CBS' "Face the Nation" that people of faith "are not going to simply surrender" their traditional marriage views because of the Supreme Court ruling.
"We didn't make up our views on marriage and sexuality, and we can't unmake them," Moore said Sunday.

If Abraham Lincoln had that attitude we wouldn’t have to worry about idiocy like #BlackLivesMatter because they’d still be slaves.
Time to move on from gay marriage, it is time to move on from lower taxes, it is time to move on from smaller government, it is time to move on from abortion, it is time to move on from illegal immigration.
That’s pretty much why we should vote for you GOPe?
Problem is that Kasich is also for amnesty and open borders. Too difficult to build a 4th century BC wall.
I don’t think anyone can eliminate same sex marriage without first getting the Supreme Court in order, by force if necessary.
Yes, by force.
The Supreme Court has no army and should have been arrested and tried by the executive branch decades ago and the legislature should abolish all lower federal courts by legislation as they are constitutionally allowed to do and start over.
But that will never happen as we have all decided we live in a Judicial Oligarchy and five of nine black dress wearing lawyers can make law over 300+ million American citizens.
A radical reordering of the three equal branches is long over due. Most often reordering is done by force of arms.
Why Kennedy and Souter where Republican appointees and let’s not forget the great waffler and re writer John Roberts.
And I guarantee he will be the Veep pick. Sad but true.
With all due respect, Trump’s answer was an insult directed against the current Congress.
A 5-4 decision where two of the justices were, by federal law, required to recuse themselves for reason of a conflict of interest. Two justices officiated same sex “marriages.”
This 5-4 decision has neither merit nor legitimacy. No thinking American should recognize it as being a valid ruling.
Time to move on.org past Kasich
Another Cheap Labor Express candidate.
Welcome to FR, and you’re wrong.
Animals are next.
This guy is even further left of Bush.
This guy is even further left of Bush.
“Jeb” Kasich - for when you really want a RINO but just can’t take another Bush.
I would say “Time To Move On” from Kasich, but he never would have been my pick anyway...
I'm sure the Gay Mafia has every intention of doing that!
Well, Trump is in favor of it too, and not in favor of religious protections either.
That said, I think Kasich may well be their candidate. Bush is a lost cause, Romney has said he’s thinking of running again but I don’t think even the GOPE believes he could win, so Kasich may be their answer.
It’s time to move on. It’s time to admit that what are supposed to be governments of, by, and for the people will ignore the will of the people. It’s time to admit that what are supposed to be governments limited in power by the Bill of Rights will trample freedom of religion, eliminate freedom of association, and ignore the ban on excessive fines. It’s time to admit that we now have a stark choice: join in pretending that gay “marriage” can be treated like the real thing, or face immeasurable persecution.
What kind of person moves on from that position? That’s like finding out that your finances have been tight since the wedding day because of your spouse’s bills for Ashley Madison and just “moving on” with what you pretend is still a happy marriage as if adultery was no big deal.
The Court ruled in Bowers v Hardwick in ‘86 and that didn’t stop the sodomites from getting it overturned in Lawrence v Texas.
If political options are taken off of the table, more extreme ones remain.
While I agree with you re the Republican party, this was not their doing. This was a Supreme Court thing, not a political one.
