Ed Gillespie campaign manager to work for Scott Walker

Chris Leavitt, who ran a campaign for Republican Ed Gillespie last year that nearly upset incumbent U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, will be a consultant to Scott Walker's presidential campaign, according to a press release Tuesday.

Walker's staff already announced that state Sen. Mark Obenshain would be Virginia campaign chair for the Wisconsin governor. Leavitt also managed Obenshain's campaign for attorney general in 2013, in which Obenshain lost to Democrat Mark Herring in a close race.

In a statement, Leavitt said: "It is a privilege to join Gov. Scott Walker's campaign for president. I believe Gov. Walker is the leader our country needs in the White House. He is a fighter, a winner, and he's proven time and time again that he won't back down in the face of a challenge. I look forward to the opportunity to build upon his already strong base of support, spread his winning message, and work toward victory in 2016."

Walker will be in Virginia on Saturday. This post will be updated with more details.

Exactly. Not good for Scott Walker. He has been sinking in my opinion of him.

This manager, alone, made me start to doubt Walker.

I really, really don’t like his GOPe ties.

Being outside the beltway, Walker had good camouflage as to his allegiance. But as time goes on more and more evidence piles up that he is R-Chamber of Commerce all the way.

After Priebus and Ryan there is no way I would risk voting for a “conservative” from Wisconsin again. Fool me once...

Yup.

Scotty’s just a Good Boy doing what his Betters want him to.

Bow and scrape before the Elders. Bring wheelbarrows full of cash to The Clients.

The cash extracted from the Peons (um, us).

Too bad. We had such hopes for him.

I’ll give the counter argument. Walker’s campaign has been uber-flat since his announcement last month. Gillespie damn near won an ‘unwinnable’ race in VA, and his campaign was executed well. Walker needs good blood to run a better campaign. I’d say the same about the guy who ran McConnell’s campaign last year. I despise the supposed majority leader, but his campaign was very well executed. I’d hire the guy in a heartbeat.

Like Ted Cruz?

“...And, for the party’s top donors, who hear pleas from all corners, “it’s more than some of these other candidates have for a path to victory,” says a GOP strategist familiar with Cruz’s pitch. As for those dreaded consultants the senator so often maligns, he’s not beyond their reach.

The Cruz campaign has paid Axiom Strategies, the consulting firm owned by Cruz’s campaign manager, Jeff Roe, about $30,000 a month. A spokesman for the campaign says that fee covers Roe’s salary as well as those of three other campaign staffers. J2 Strategic Communications, the firm established by Cruz’s senior adviser, Jason Johnson, is also paid $20,000 a month for campaign work, which a Cruz spokesman says is the closest their operation comes to a traditional campaign-consultant relationship.

One of Roe’s former clients was former Texas lieutenant governor David Dewhurst, the establishment candidate defeated in a 2012 Senate bid by political upstart Ted Cruz.

That’s how quickly friends of the Republican establishment can become foes, and vice versa. Now, Cruz is hoping for a similar transformation if he manages to make his renegade brand that of the Republican standard-bearer. Source

I’m sad, because he looked so promising early on. During the debate I was waiting for his “moment”, which never really came...

I called the Gillespie campaign a dozen times to get them to go after Warner for his amnesty votes and they would not because they wanted amnesty as much as the Democrats.

This confirms my suspicions about Walker, Brad Dayspring was bad enough, now he’s doubling down on the establishment consultants.

He’s on board The Cheap Labor Express and will not stop the invasion/cheap labor importation/clonization of our country.

We cannot afford to elect another cheap labor importer.

He could have won, but refused to hang Warner’s amnesty support around his neck and would not come out for enforcement and against amnesty.

THAT is what cost him the election, he would rather lose than stand with the citizens and the rule of law.
I contacted the Gillespie campaign a dozen times to tell them they would lose if they did not stand for the rule of law and they refused to do it.

Gillespie was a Cheap Labor Express candidate and so is Walker.
