“We’ve got to, as we do with quite a number of countries, distinguish the internal political consumption rhetoric from the reality of the way they conduct their foreign policy,” the Guardian quoted Hammond saying.

I remember in my old neighborhood a kid telling everyone he was gonna fight me soon because of some silly argument we had. He said it for weeks, then a few months, so it was just rhetoric, I thought.
When he finally did sucker punch me, it hurt. It was a good fight, but I digress.

Believe what people say they want to do to you. They wouldn't say it if they didn't mean it, at least a little.

Also fighting four proxy wars is a good example of how they are conducting foreign policy.

Please God, give me my old England and US back.

‘Believe what people say they want to do to you.’

Since 9-11, I ‘pledged’ to believe what someone says is going to happen.
If/when it doesn’t - great - if it’s a negative action.
To ignore can be to one’s detriment.

Ditto: give me/us back the good ol’ USA!!!
