I agree. But on the other hand I spend a fair amount of time on FR and don't remember seeing this article. That could be because I have my settings on Comments rather than Articles. I'm sure there are other people who missed this too. I think this is very important, because it is the issue that has catapulted him to the lead.
I agree with Trump it is important to show how many times his positions seem to “evolve” depending on the circumstance. One of the things people claim to like about Trump is he is authentic and a straight shooter. Having “evolved” so regularly kinda shows he is more a chameleon than some rock of conservatism.
As far as I am concerned Trumpkins ought to stop claiming they want a genuine conservative and just admit that an anti-intellectual, protectionist populist (with even just a few conservative positions) is quite fine with them. That makes the debate more easy to deal with and frees the Trumpkins from having to defend their candidates flip flips and otherwise non conservative positions - both past and present. It would certainly change the character of a forum like this that is dedicated to conservatism, but it would be more honest for them to take that approach.
