First, the GOP must die.
Everything else comes after that.

Would the end of the GOP be a bad thing?
I’m sure that if some of these people had been around in the 1850s, they’d be bemoaning the end of the Whigs.

I’m not sure it much matters what follows in the wake of the GOP. The country itself is really lost. I wonder what will follow in its wake.

The Establishment leadership got so arrogant, that they precipitated their own demise.
The 2 deadlies....
They only care about money
They hated conservatives.

My thoughts too . . . and that is suppose to be a BAD thing?
RNC has not represented me in a LONG TIME.
RINO’s have taken over the party.

I would like to say that this implosion will be good for the party, and good for real conservatives and good for the nation. And it might. Or it may be a lurch into the rank nativism that is gaining strength in Europe. In other words its all good.
Why is this so hard for the 'panties in wad' crowd to understand? The GOP is worse than worthless. Its a cortisone shot to a torn meniscus - its only purpose is to relieve pain and in doing so make even greater damage possible.

If the Post truly believes this, then why isn’t it cheering him on?
The Post would endorse Jeffery Dalmer as the Dem candidate over any Republican. If he’s going to destroy the GOP, they should be ecstatic.

The WaPo composters would like to see the end of the GOP but for different reasons than we conservatives who would like to take it back where it belongs. Out with the old, in with the bold.

The GOP has been a rickety, unsustainable contraption of policy prescriptions that dont add up, dont really represent the coalitions actual members, and is based on a backward-looking set of views appealing to an ever-shrinking demographic. It has been held together this long with an ever-more-obfuscatory confabulation of misdirection, packaged in buzzwords and amped with anger. It was overdue to come unglued. Quite a nice summary of today's Democrat Party, as well. :)

Clearly, this writer wants the GOP to continue in its present form, right down to following the left’s suggestion of nominating jeb bush to be the latest mediocrity to usher in eight more years of democrat rule.
Conservatives didn’t believe the Wall Street banks and hedge funds were too big to fail, nor do we believe the GOP, this establishment of ancient elitists, is too big to die. The disempowerment of wheezing geriatric geeze-bags like mccain, graham, hatch and their peers can only be a good thing.
